Valentines Treat – Candy Cane Heart Suckers


Wondering what to do with all of those left-over mini-candy canes? Here is a fun idea that is perfect for Valentine’s Day and the perfect Valentines treat! To make these heart shaped suckers, take two mini candy canes and place them together on a lightly greased baking sheet.


Place a sucker stick between the bottoms of each. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for about 5 minutes.


Be careful and watch closely as some ovens may vary. Remove them from the oven as soon as they begin to blister and melt a bit, like the picture below.


As soon as you remove them from the oven, pinch the ends of the candy canes together to cover the sucker stick. Also pinch the top of the canes together. Do this very carefully for they are very HOT! I used a kitchen knife to help shape mine so I would not get burned. Let them cool completely before removing them from the sheet. These would make a fun gift for those on your Valentine gift list or as cute cupcake toppers.

    totally didn't work for me. wonder if my candy canes weren't good enough or something. They made a mess, and then really stuck to the cookie sheet even though I greased it well. bummer.

    I didn't watch the oven carefully as told…after 5 mins my candy canes were completely melted. :( Boo! I'll have to wait till next year to try these again.

    My first batch completely melted before 5 minutes. I wasn't watching the oven. I will try again but I am afraid of what the melted candy canes have done to my good baking sheet! :(

    Went through a few batches with them completely sticking to the greased sheet. Then I used my Silpat mat and they came out BEAUTIFUL!
