I stumbled across the pattern for this crocheted bear hat awhile back and filed it away in my list of “things I want to make” file. We watched a movie with the kids the other night which was the perfect time to get my crochet on.
This is a quick and easy project. If you have never crocheted a hat before, this is a really easy one to learn on. The ears are a bit trickier, but once you have the hat down, the ears will be a cinch. The only stitch is a single crochet, with no increases or decreases! The original pattern was for an infant. Since I wanted mine to fit a toddler I used a 4.25 mm crochet hook instead of the recommended 4.00 mm hook. The finished length is 7 inches long.
I found the pattern here.

So cute! Thanks for the link and the inspiration!
what kind of yarn did you use for the bear hat? I used Caron Simply soft and didn't like how flimsy it felt.
I actually used a yarn by Vanna White that I found at Wal-Mart. It was a dark brown (can't remember the specific color because the paper around it went a.w.o.l. a long time ago). It is not a very soft yarn and is a little stiffer. The ears really hold their shape nicely.
Oh no! The link doesn't work anymore! :(
