Now that we have found a solution for organizing your girls hair bows, what are we going to do with all the little barettes, bobbers, and hair elastics you have floating around…?
Use a craft box.
A couple of years ago I was fed up with trying to find a matching barette or pony tail holder when I needed it. So I bought a craft organizer box and used it for our hair acessories. We have organized them according mainly to color. Absolutely one of my favorite improvements for making “girl hair time” (sometimes not a fun thing at our house) a little more mom friendly.
The important thing to remember is to put them away again at night. Sometimes when they are all messed up again, one of the girls daily chores will be to sort them out and organize them into colors again. It’s good for them! And it really works.

This is a GREAT idea! :-)
i need to do this for dd.
Of course! This is brilliant!! Why don't I think of these things?
since my baby girl is still really little and those Bobbels fall out of her hair, I haven't boughten any just yet. But when I seen your picture, it sure did remind me of my younger days when I wore them big bobbels! Some times they would get away from my little hands hand flick me in the noggin! Thanks for the organization idea!
How do you organize hairbands, lots of them? We have probably 25 hairbands and hundreds of girls ponytail holders and barretts.
I do this with my daughters hair accessories! It was such a relief not having to scramble around and dig through her box to find matching colors. Saves so much time.
Loved this idea. Tried it but it did not work for us because we don’t have a drawer to keep it in. But I am sharing your idea on my blog. I am including a link to your blog. Hope you don’t mind.
I use these for my makeup when i travel.. keeps everything from being broken and organized never thought to use for hair ties thanks for the suggestion
I like this idea too!
But I have a little twist to add.
Fishing tackle clear boxes with compartments work well for lots of things too.
I’m not talking about the tackle box you see fishermen carrying with the handle and all.
At Wally World for instance.
They are next to the tackle boxes but there are several sizes of these.
Cheaper than craft boxes too!
There is one that I love.
It is curved molded plastic on the edges.
It has 6 rows on each side. You flip it over after shutting the 2 plastic clips on each side.
You have another 6 rows.
Here’s the good part…
I have found these are Perfect for Prescriptions you take on a daily basis.
I tape the Rx # on the inside, top of the lid so i am sure what each one is and for reordering.
I pour the whole prescription into each of the 12 compartments.
They are big enough to hold 90 days worth of meds usually.
Unless you take Potassium or some other kind of horse size pills.
In that case you can move the dividers and make 2-3 large compartments.
Instead of having to refill a case every week or so with the tiny spaces in those other things.
I put my Vitamins in one, my Vitamin E in another, and so on.
I end up with most of mine filled.
Its all right there and when you notice you are getting low, call for your refill.
My brother has 5 girls. When they were little he was the one to get their hair done for church. He kept all their hair stuff in a (clean) fishing tackle box along with three spray bottles (detangler, water, and hair spray). He would line the girls up assembly line fashion and do each one with a different braid or twist.
That is so cute! What a great dad!
