Hi The Idea Room readers! It’s Becky, Clean Mama, and I’m back today with another Organizational Tip to help you organize your home.
If you have a clutter spot or recurring clutter, think about grouping “like” items (bills and mail, photos, scrapbooking, sewing, or craft supplies) together in a designated area. This could be a box, a basket, a bin, or a piece of furniture. For today’s decluttering, I used a not-used-enough piece of furniture to contain my clutter and to give me a new space to work on photo albums. I’m not talking about scrapbooking here, just putting photos in albums – and yes, I’m always behind – like by a year.
I took an antique commode (cute little cupboard) that was holding miscellaneous papers and other stuff and turned it into photo album storage.
empty all contents – I guess I was under-utilizing this stashing spot
I lined the cabinet and drawer with scrapbook cardstock. I didn’t have enough to do the whole thing the same, so I just coordinated using different “flocked” black and cream patterns.

I used wrapping paper and made a template to line the drawer and cupboard by just pressing the paper into the drawer to get a line for the drawer – can you see it? And then cut it out for my template.
Then I cut the paper to fit the cabinet and placed it inside – I glued the paper together, but I didn’t or tape it down to the cabinet because it has a snug fit and doesn’t get a lot of use.
I grouped the photo albums together in the cabinet
the drawer is for holding photos that need to be put in the albums – I think I’ll add a little basket here for doubles or pictures to give away.
I love this solution because all the photo albums are in one place and accessible. But the best part? Everyone can actually LOOK at the photos because they are in the living room and not stashed throughout the house.
Do you have a clutter spot that could benefit from some grouping of like items?
Come on over for a visit to CleanMama blog sometime, I’d love to have you - the cyber coffee is always on!

I store my photo albums in a similar place. Funny how a piece of furniture sits there for ages and then you find it's the perfect spot for storage! xx
I really like the idea of lining with scrapbook or wrapping paper! Adds a pretty touch!
I love that you used the scrap book paper for the drawer liner. I also did that in a cabinet I re-did. Nice job!
