Update: This room has now been turned into the kids playroom and my office/craft room has been moved into the dining room. To see that post you can read about it here:
Office Reveal
Many of you have asked where I do most of my crafting…so I thought I would share my craft room/office with you.
This room is not very big and measures about 10 feet by 11 feet. But it works out pretty well for my needs. I have a chair where I like to read and then the desk is where I put my sewing machine {which is kept in the hall closet which I will share later} when I am sewing or where I cut and paste and work on my other projects. But sometimes…I find my projects migrate to the dining room table!
My dinosaur of a computer is on the desktop and is about to be moved downstairs for the kids to use but we haven’t done that yet. I do most of my work on my laptop all over the house {which I love!}, but I store my laptop up here when I am “off work” so I am not tempted to open it up.
Right next to it you can see my Silhouette SD machine. Then to the left of that is my printer and our fax/copy machine that my husband uses when he is able to work from home.
Then we have this cupboard on the wall opposite of the bookshelves. This used to be the same color as the desk and made out of laminated particle board…not my favorite. But until I can find what I want AND afford…we painted it.
But we also added the front panels to the cupboard as well. The cabinet used to have two glass doors that were see through. I hated it because you could see all the mess and clutter which I like to have hidden away! So we took some bead board paneling and cut it to fit on the glass and then just glued them right onto the glass panels. A little caulk, paint and new hardware and you could never tell how ugly it was before…except for when you open the cabinet doors {see below}. I tried to find the before picture I took, but that was a few years ago and I could not find it!
Inside the cabinet I have all of my crafting supplies. And they are somewhat organized. The Tupperware holds all my glues, Mod Podge and diamond glaze, etc. My glue gun and glue sticks are in the red bucket. I have buttons and embellishments in the small containers.
In the basket are all my Silhouette supplies…I have yet to use my Silhouette pens…still thinking of a project for that one…any ideas?
On the bottom shelf are my paints and my Styrofoam balls {I told you I bought them in bulk}. Then in the black box are my knitting and crocheting supplies. And stacked on the end are all my notebooks.
There are two big file drawers underneath where I keep all my paperwork and patterns. And in this picture you will notice that I FINALLY got around to Mod Podging some cute polka dot scrapbook paper on the inside doors to cover up the ugly glass covered with glue! I love it and am happy with it until I can find just the right item on Craig’s List :)!
I wish I could say that it always stays this clean…but at least it is in a part of the house that is not usually seen by company and I can shut the door on the mess if I need too! Next time I will share with you where I keep all my paper products and sewing supplies cause this room is definitely too small for all of it!

What a great space! Thanks for sharing!
I had to chuckle when I read that your projects migrate to the dining room– I'm the same way even though I have a dedicated room to work in as well! I blame it on the lure of the tv :)
Well what a tidy workroom, more than what I can say for mine at present and do like the cupboard, a brilliant job done!
You inspire me to get a little more organized!! I love the idea of a cabinet with DOORS:-)
My studio is an extra bedroom. My son uses the closet, and there's an IKEA chair for watching a rather large tv which is on a long chest. What's left of the room is MINE. So far, just 3 & 4 foot banquet tables with my machines. I really need to make if more functional. Thanks for the inspiration!!
A woman after my own heart — doing your best to stay organized AND crafty! Excellent work on the cupboard, clever girl!
Here's to fighting the good fight for organization!
Bless you! — Jill @ Blessings of a LIfetime
I'm inspired! Love that you have a chair ^so comfy in there!
it's so CLEAN!!! ha ha my craft room is a disaster zone all the time!! i wish I could stay as neat as you!!! :)
I love how warm your craft room is–it looks like a big, warm "Welcome" in every picture!
I couldn't help but notice all of your Harry Potter books. I like this blog even more now :)
Thanks for sharing!
Are you willing to share where you buy your styrofoam balls at {in bulk}? Thanks!!
Thanks for sharing your creative space. I'm hosting We're ORganized Wednesday through Saturday and would love for you to join the party if you get a chance.
I use my Silhouette SD pens regularly. Mostly for my scrapbooking. I draw out words and cute designs instead of stamping. Stamping to me is messy and takes up too much space to store all of it. I have had a couple of problems with the pens. When you start using them, let me know what you think. My black one bairly works right out of the box and the blue one had a problem with the bottom coming out while it was drawing. I just duck taped the end of it. Problem solved. So far not TOO excited about the design of them but LOVE the way the product turns out when it actually works!
What a lovely room, beautifully organised. I feel like going and tidying a cupboard after looking at your pictures!
Thanks ladies! I did straighten it up a bit for the pictures :) LOL! But I do like things to be organized!
LOL! We love Harry Potter. Both of my boys are huge fans. One has read them at least 7-8 times each! I only got to number 6 LOL!
Bulk Styrofoam balls from JoAnn's!
Thanks for the tips on the Silhouette pens. I really need to try them out. Hope they aren't dried out by now :)…duct tape is awesome!
Awesome space! I have a little corner of my bedroom I use for crafting. I posted pics on my blog last month.
So what’s the 411 on painting the laminate cabinet? I have the same one that I have been trying to get rid of, but after seeing yours, I think I will just paint it, but I need some info. Did you just paint right on it or did you sand/strip/prime??? What kind of prep work did you do? Give me some steps girl! :). BTW, I love your site. Just found it today and have been spending WAY too much time perusing.
