Tricks for posing siblings—Emilie Decker Photography

I recently was able to take Emilie’s Photography Workshop with some awesome ladies.  I have to tell you that it was as fun as it was informative.

I do already shoot in Manual most of the time but still struggle with some concepts here and there.  Emilie has such a great teaching style and was able to spend some very needed one on one time with each of us and this really helped me to answer some questions I had been struggling with.  We touched on many items but went into some detail on the following:
*Going from Auto to Manual—I learned FINALLY to be able to QUICKLY determine aperture.  I struggled with that one as it seemed backwards to me.  I think I finally have it figured out!
*Lighting—Learned great tips for how and where to find the best lighting for your subjects inside and out.
*Posing—Learned so great tips for great looking poses for individuals and groups of people.
and *Photoshop—Emile taught us some quick and easy tips that she likes to do to enhance her already great images.

One of the tricks I want to share with you is what I learned about posing my girls.  A trick that is so simple but makes such a difference in my images.

It seems so simple but look at the big difference this concept makes in my photos…

I never thought about spacing the heads evenly! What a great idea! Thanks for sharing! And what is the name of the cute font you used on the blue and yellow words? It’s adorable!

Thanks for sharing these tips and for the link to Emilie’s blog – it’s fantastic! I’ve subscribed via rss. :) I’ve totally been wanting to improve my photography skills for some time, but I haven’t been able to afford a class.
