Make some yummy heart shaped cookies for Valentines Day! Enjoy these with some stylized milk bottles that are perfect for the holiday spirit!
SANDWICH COOKIES
Earlier I shared with you how I made these fun glittery heart milk bottles. Bottles that can be used to decorate your Valentine’s Day dinner or party. I had a few of you email me and ask me for the Chocolate Drop Cookie Recipe that I used to make this Chocolate Sandwich Heart Cookies.
This is one of our favorite drop cookie recipes. The best part about it is that you can add different chocolate chips like mint, peanut butter, white chocolate, toffee chips, nuts, caramel bits, etc. depending on your mood and taste preferences. Here is the recipe:

HEART SHAPED COOKIE CUTTER
After the cookies have cooled completely you can take a heart shaped cookie cutter and cut the cookies into hearts.
Then slap on some of your favorite frosting between the flat sides of two cookies. Now…some of my kids don’t love chocolate cookies…I know…weird. So we had a couple of chocolate chip cookies left over from last Sunday when the kids were craving Chocolate Chip Cookies.

Since we are GF and you are trying to be too, I thought I would share how I plan to modify your recipe to make it GF. Here are the
Gluten/Dairy/Soy/Nut-Free Modified Ingredients:
– 1 cup coconut oil (solid), palm shortening or allergen-free margarine
– 1 cup tapioca flour
– 1/2 cup brown rice flour
– 1/4 cup millet flour
– 1/4 potato starch
(I don’t use mixes, but you can use 2 cups of a good GF flour mix)
– 1 tsp xantham gum (I use Bob’s Red Mill)
– 2/3 cup Cocoa Powder
– 1 cup Sugar
– 3 Tablespoons allergen-free Milk (flax, coconut, hemp milk or rice milk)
– 1/2 cup Brown Sugar
– 2 Eggs or the equivalent of egg replacer (I use Ener-G brand)
– 2 teaspoon Vanilla
– 1/4 teaspoon Baking Soda
– 1/2 cup allergen-free chocolate chips (I use Enjoy Life)
I will try making them tomorrow. I am sure they will be delicious and my kids will love them. Thanks for the idea/recipe.
Yay!! I love that you shared that with me! Right now I am just making stuff for the kids but would love to be able to make them GF. And…allergen free chocolate chips?? I did not know such a thing existed. This could be life changing for me! Thanks so much! :)
Thanks for the recipe and for the GF recipe! The cookies look so cute and the bottle does also of course!
I was on the freecycle website and local woman was requesting a ton of Starbucks Frappuccino bottles and I figured she had to read your blog.
haha! I always forget about that site. I should check it out. I do have quite a few projects I have used the bottles for!
Oh, I have done the sandwiched versions with German Chocolate & Walnut with Cream Cheese frosting. This look mighty yummy!!!! My guys would love the Chocolate Chip ones.
