FAVORITE SCONE RECIPE
I prefer to fry these scones in coconut oil. I think it adds a nice bit of flavor to the scones, but you are welcome to fry them in another oil if you prefer. We love to smother them with a little butter and some honey or homemade jam.

FUN GIFT IDEA
Today I am sharing with you a simple and “sweet” gift idea.
I wanted to come up with something practical and inexpensive that would work for a lot of different ideas and “occasions”. I think this would work well for a Christmas Gift for a Teacher or a friend or as a neighbor gift with a fresh homemade loaf of bread (or store bought if you feel so inclined). You could also attach a gift card to their favorite store or restaurant to make it a little more substantial! You can find the FREE PRINTABLE HERE.

Finally! Scones that aren’t as big as a platters. When we had these at the school cafeteria growing up, they were about this size. Moving back to Utah, after 30+ years in California, I was excited to see scones at the restaurants — but they’re literally as big as the plate! These look perfect; and delicious.

So there’s oil in the dough and you fry them in oil?

These look good. But it always puzzles me when this is called a scone. And I think it is a Utah/Idaho thing and something found at food booths at fairs. It’s more like fry bread or along those lines. I think your post cleared up why my Idaho relatives call these scones. How funny. Thanks!

Dee- This recipe is a lot like fry bread.
