I am in disbelief that it is already October. The months seems to be flying by. I wish it would slow down a bit so I could feel like I could it enjoy it a little bit more. This month, as a Lowe’s Creative Blogger, our challenge was to come up with some Halloween décorations.
I had envisioned this sign a little bit differently than it actually came out. I really like this one, but knowing myself, I will probably make another one too! If I do, I for sure will share it with you!
This Halloween sign is pretty simple. I just spray painted some window screen material and then stapled it onto the back of a frame that had the glass removed.
Want to make one or see how I did it? Here is what I did!
Step 1:
Measure your screen material so that it fits nicely on the back of the frame and gives you plenty of room to tighten the screen and staple it firmly in place.
Step 2:
Spray paint your screen black (not shown). Spray paint your picture frame if needed. I spray painted mine a nice gray color. Let them dry completely…or if you are like me…pull out a hairdryer and dry them quickly (I have no patience)!
Step 3:
Use a stencil of an arrow and spray paint the arrow white. I also included a stencil of a bat and sprayed it white too. I used some vinyl I had cut with my Silhouette. Let it dry completely.
Step 4:
Now use some stencils for your words…SLEEPY HOLLOW…or your words of choice. I simply put the rest of the vinyl cut out back into the arrow (the black part is vinyl in the upper right photo) and then pulled out the letters so that I could paint the letters black.
Step 5:
Spray paint the letters black. After it has dried completely, pull off the vinyl stencil and staple the screen onto the back of your picture frame.
Such an easy project. I love the whole concept and love the endless possibilities this holds. I also love that fun texture and the see through element of the sign. I am thinking I should go back and rough up the edges of the frame a little bit to give it a more rustic feel.
And…let’s just pretend that I cleaned my mirror before taking these photos…umm kay?
What do you think? Is this a project you are likely to try?

ha! Thanks Tausha! Not sure about that! xo
I love your stuff, but for some reason I’m just not understanding how this one works. It’s probably just me – sorry! It looks AWESOME though.
Thanks Candi! You don’t understand how I made it? Or you don’t get the reason behind doing it on the screen? :D
The sign is great, but the star of the show for me is your wallpaper! I love it.
Thanks Marnie! I love the wall paper too! After spending an entire summer removing old 80’s wallpaper from our home when we first moved in, I swore to never wall paper. But…this wall paper was calling my name. It is just on one wall and I LOVE it!
That is such a cool Halloween decoration. You are one creative lady!!
Thanks Momma! xo
Love the decorations. Where did you get that table?
Thank you Stephanie! We actually built the table. We couldn’t find a square one large enough for our family that did not cost an arm and a leg. We will be sharing how we made it here hopefully soon!

After spending many of my childhood days in your house I can’t believe how amazing it looks. I asked my mom multiple times if she was sure those were actually pictures of your house! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE what you have done. It couldn’t be a cuter house for a cuter family!
