Speaking of the Cricut | Explore…Today I am going to share with you how you can make this simple DIY Typography Cutting Board. This is one of the easiest tutorials and would make a great gift for someone this Holiday Season.
Materials needed:
Vinyl Cutting machine
a new Cutting Board
a Thin Black Sharpie Marker
Mineral Oil
Instructions:
1. I simply cut some common words that are synonymous with the word “cut” out of some vinyl and made a reverse stencil by pulling out the letters of the words.
2. Then lay your vinyl out onto your clean cutting board using the transfer tape. *I specifically placed the words along the outer edge of the board so that they would not be on the main cutting surface. I didn’t want the marker to get on the food…so you will need to be aware of your placement.
3. Trace and fill in the letters with your Black Sharpie.
4. Rub some Mineral Oil on your cutting board over the Sharpie to finish it off.
This would be fun with a lot of different words. For example you could personalize the cutting board by adding someone’s last name or a monogram. Really anything you can think of to personalize your gift!
If you have a Cricut Explore, you can make THIS EXACT project right now with their Make It Now feature for .99 cents.
If you don’t have a vinyl cutting machine, you can use a different stencil and make one just as easily!

This was super helpful. I have been searching to find out what type of marker can be used and how to coat it once on the wood. Excellent! two birthday presents done!
