Today, I am sharing with you a FREE Printable Valentine’s Day Banner so that you can make one too!
VALENTINE’S DAY BANNER
I started putting up the Valentine’s Day Decorations yesterday. Do you decorate your home for Valentine’s Day? Have you started decorating yet?
I decided to use Burlap, but you can use whatever medium you prefer….canvas, colored card stock or scrap book paper or even plain white card stock will work just as well for this simple DIY project. Sometimes I just love a great craft project…don’t you?
POM POM
I also quickly threw up a simple Pom Pom Bunting. All you need to do is simply take a piece of gold thread and strung some red pom poms on it with a large needle. I love the fun pop of red color the it adds to the hutch and the decor.
To recreate this project you will need the following:
- Burlap
- Freezer Paper
- Scissors
- Fabric Paints in Black, Red, & White
- Iron
- Twine
- Mini Clothespins
- Paint Brush or Stencil Brush
Instructions:
1. Print out the Valentine’s Day Banner Templates by clicking on the links below:

2. Cut out the patterns in the freezer paper so you can stencil the paint onto the burlap (or other material). Be sure that the shiny side of the freezer paper is face down. This is the sticky side that needs to adhere to the material after ironing.
3. Iron the freezer paper onto your burlap or other material.
4. Stencil the letters and hearts with the fabric paints and then let dry completely.
5. Cut around the flag banner (the edges of the freezer paper).
6. Carefully peel off the freezer paper and attach flags to the twine.
7. Hang on a mantle or wall to display your new Valentine’s Day Banner!
BURLAP BANNER
I Love the texture of the burlap with this banner, especially against the mostly white hutch background! Be sure to come back for a few more Valentine’s Day ideas I have to share with you!

Hi, I am in the UK and wondering what freezer paper is? Would it have a different name here? Lovely craft :)

Oh Sorry! It is like a wax paper but it has a plastic coating on one side. It is for wrapping meats and food and storing in the freezer. It prevents freezer burn. But…you can use it in crafts. Ironing it on will help it stick to the material and then easily pull off when finished. So it works great for stencils!! Here is a link to it so you can see what it looks like! Great question! I will update my post to include this as I am sure you may not be the only one wondering about it! http://amzn.to/1CV4IB2
How cute is that!!! Thank you so much for sharing the templates and such a great idea. I was trying to decide what to make for a banner on my Hoosier Cabinet and china cabinet. I will make the XOXO for one, and LOVE for the other. This goes perfectly with the rest of my décor. You are awesome!
What a great solution! Glad there will be one banner for each! Thank so much for sharing that!
That is really super cute! I can’t get enough of burlap and the printable looks so cute on it! It does look awesome against hat white hutch.
Thanks Jen! Can you believe this is my second “official” burlap project? I have posted similar projects but have always use canvas materials! ;)
I don’t decorate until February because my birthday and my daughters birthdays are in January and I want them to feel separate from valentines day. But I can’t wait to put some of the decorating suggestions you have into practice in February!
I LOVE that you keep it special for just the birthdays!! I hope I have shared some that you can use! Thanks for sharing!
i love this. and yes..i decorate for Valentines day. Started putting things up the minute I was done with Christmas! :)
That is so pretty! And MINI clothes pins!!! Love!!
Thanks Kendra! And yes…mini clothes pins… :)
Love this banner! It’s simple, but so cute. And the freezer paper idea for creating the stencil – genius! Pinned for later.
