CRE8TIME Movement–Easter Craft

Back in August I had the opportunity to head out to Dallas, TX and spent some time with some of the amazing people that work with Michaels.  They are so creative and so much fun and we had a good time creating together.  While there we were able to participate in the Michaels Leadership Conference and Holiday Show.  We also met the CEO of the Craft & Hobby Association, Andrej Suskavcevic, who shared with us an amazing campaign called CRE8TIME.

CRE8TIME

CRE8TIME is a movement, a movement supported by a group of people who want to make a positive social change. As our lives become increasingly crowded with “responsibilities,” we tend to ignore ourselves and find it difficult to justify creative pursuits; they seem “selfish” and are often the first things we discard.  It’s time to reclaim our creativity!  CRE8TIME is a movement, a movement supported by a group of people who want to make a positive social change.  It is designed to help people recover eight hours a month and devote it to their particular craft, and to create a place for them to share their experiences – the joys, lessons, and results – with the creative community at large.  Learn more about CRE8TIME in this video.

Now, I tend to spend a lot of my time creating, so finding myself creating for an hour a day is not unusual.  It helps that I am a creative blogger by trade.  But what about you? Do you find time to create in your lives?  I know that most of you LOVE to create, which is why you may find yourself here…on my site.  How does being creative make you feel?  For me, creativity is a way to unwind and relax.  A way for me to connect with who I am outside of all of the other roles I find myself in.

As part of the CRE8TIME project and my partnership with Michael’s, I came up with a project that I would like to be able to share with you.  And, if you are interested, hopefully this project will help you to be able to find some time to add some creativity to your life if you are not already doing so.  Tomorrow I will share with you the printable pattern, photo tutorial, and the cookie recipe I used so that you can make some too.

Easter Bunny Gift Jars & Labels

Last week, I shared with you these fun little Easter Gift Ideas.  Today I want to share with you how I made them and provide you with the free labels and bunny ear patterns.

Since I know many of you will want to know where I got the jars, they are Starbucks Frappucino Bottles that came in a four pack from Target.  I collect these jars and use them for all sorts of fun projects.

Then I wash them out and sterilize them in the dishwasher.  I also usually spray paint the lids white.  Since the weather has been so cold and snowy here, I was not able to spray paint the lids but had one spray painted lid laying around.

Then I cut out some bunny ears and attached them to the rim of the glass bottle.  I used some pink polka dot cardstock to make the inner ear.

And I also made some cute Easter labels on my Silhouette and printed and cut them out and attached them to the bottles.  I printed them out onto Silhouette’s white sticker paper.  But you can also print them out on white cardstock, cut them out with scissors and then glue them onto the jar with a glue stick.

Fill the jars with some Easter candy or use them to serve Easter drinks in at your Easter Party or Easter Dinner.  Click on the image or links below to get access to the printables.  You will have to Like The Idea Room on Facebook.  Then click on the “Get Your Free Gift” link and on “Previous Downloads”.

I apologize for the extra steps but I have had a lot of trouble with others posting my printables and the links to them on their own websites.  I will also offer this printable free for a few days and then will move it into my Idea Room Store where it will then be sold.  So if you want to use you be sure to get it now.  I will be sharing a post later about why I have made the decision to start moving my printables into my shop after offering it free for the first couple of days.

Inside the bunny gift bag you can add a little treat.  I simply stapled a little treat bag full of jelly beans inside the bunny.

With the jelly beans sitting right at the base of the bunny, it helps him to stand up on his own.  Pretty cute huh?

He can unfold for easy access to his yummy insides!

You could also write a sweet little message to the person you will be giving him too.
