Witch Oreo Pops

Two DAYS left…Need a last minute Halloween Food idea? Of course you do! These are the last installment of my Halloween Oreo Pop Series! Whew! I bet you thought these were never going to come to an end. Hehe! No worries…dreaming up a lot more!  These were probably the most challenging.

Take your Double Stuft Oreos and insert a stick between the two cookie layers.

Dip them into your melted Green Candy Melts from Wilton.  Be sure to cover the edges and the stick very carefully.  Set on wax paper.  Add your eyes.  I used some candy eyeballs also made by Wilton.  You can give her a nose by breaking the tip off of another Bugle chip and dipping it into your green candy melts and place it on her face with a toothpick or your fingers.  Pop in the freezer.  While they are hardening, take a Bugle chip and dip it into some melted chocolate.

I used some sucker sticks to stand them in some styrofoam so that they could harden.  Then while they are hardening, dip one side of the Oreo cookie without the frosting into the chocolate and set on the wax paper to harden as well.  Then when all is hard, dip the bottom of the cone of the Bugle chip into some melted chocolate and set it on top of the Oreo cookie or the brim of the witches hat.   Let harden.

Drizzle some chocolate onto the top of the witches head and give her some hair.  Then set the hat onto her head.  Place the stick back into the styrofoam and let her harden.

That’s all! Give her to some of your friends this holiday.

Thanks for all your fun comments on my blog redesign! You are all so sweet! Still a few things not quite finished but it is getting there!

I am spending the morning dejunkifying some rooms and then heading to a couple of fun Halloween celebrations this evening!

What are you up to today?

Halloween Oreos—Spiders

I had the realization recently that pretty much the only Halloween related posts I have shared this season are treats…of the Oreo persuasion. That is sad…really sad. I do have to tell you that I have not eaten any of them. I am TRYING to reduce the amount of sugar in my life right now. But I lay awake at night and close my eyes and see Oreos and try to come up with lots of different versions of them to create. Is there a 12 step program for people like me? Anyways…here is the latest version of my Halloween Oreos…the Spider…cause you can never have enough fun Halloween food…right?

Halloween-Treats

These might be one of my favorites. I am not sure why. I used some fun icing eyes that I found at Target the other day in their baking aisle. They are made by Wilton and just give him some extra character.  I dip each Oreo by taking a spoon of the melted chocolate and pouring it over the Oreo.  Turn the Oreo around in one hand and drizzle the chocolate over it with the other hand. Make sure to get all around the stick and around the middle of two cookie layers.

Then place on wax paper. I took some fun colored licorice which was also found at Target and cut them into 8 small pieces for the spider’s legs.

Then push them gently, but firmly into the sides of the Oreo…four to each side.

Before the chocolate hardens add some eyeballs.  You can also use M&M’s or mini chocolate chips to make the eyes if you can’t find the Wilton eyeballs.

Pop into the freezer until you are ready to wrap them up and gift to someone or until you are ready to eat them with a friend.

Spider Webs are not included or recommended in the assembly process…

Look at those beady eyes…just like a real spider. Have I told you how much I despise real spiders? Remember this post a while back? I share a couple of my “favorite” spider encounters with you…*shudder*!! I think these chocolate covered Oreo Spiders almost make up for my irrational fear of the real ones…

well almost!

I can’t believe Halloween is in less than a week!

Halloween Oreos—Mummy Treats

Do you need another ideas for some fun Halloween Snacks? Today I am sharing my newest version of Halloween Oreos today!  This time, I decided to make some Mummy Treats.  I actually have two more versions of these Halloween Oreos to share with you and those will be coming later this week.  It has been all about the Double Stuft Oreos around here lately.  Then I promise not to post any more…for a while that is.

Halloween-Oreo-Mummies

Just like the others, these are pretty simple to make and don’t require anything special.

Just the following ingredients are needed:

Double Stuft Oreos

popsicle sticks {or sucker sticks}

white chocolate {melted}

mini chocolate chips

Oreo-Mummies

Simply place the sticks in between the two layers of cookie.  Dip the Oreos into the melted chocolate.  Instead of dipping, I tend to spoon it onto the Oreos paying close attention to completely covering where the cookie and the stick come together.  This will ensure the cookies stay together and don’t fall off of the stick.

Lay the completely chocolate covered Oreos onto some wax paper and add some mini chocolate chips for the eyes.  I will sometimes cut the pointy tip off of the mini chocolate chips with my kitchen shears so that the eye will lay flat on the Oreos.

Let them harden by popping them into the freezer for a few minutes.  While they are firming up, fill a small plastic baggy with some melted chocolate and cut the end of one of the bottom corners of the bag off.  Use the bag to pipe thin lines of chocolate over the mummy to give him some three dimensional bandage wraps.

Pop them back into the freezer until ready to serve or package up for a fun little treat.

Share with your friends or add them to your party table for your guests to enjoy.
