*This is a sponsored post on behalf of HomeGoods. However, all opinions are mine…and who doesn’t love Home Goods?
I am really excited for today’s post you guys! A few weeks ago I was contacted by HomeGoods and asked if I wanted to offer you guys a giveaway…well…duh! Of course I did! Who doesn’t love HomeGoods? I was challenged to use some of HomeGoods items to decorate a room in my home as part of their HomeGoods Organize in Style program.
I chose to go with my oldest daughter’s room since we were right in the process of finishing the final touches in her room. What preteen girl doesn’t need more storage ideas and space in her room? I had been playing around with the idea of building a window seat bench under her window to give her an area to read or hang out on with friends or by herself, but wasn’t quite sure what I wanted to do.
So, after her birthday dinner (my husband and I take the birthday child out to a special dinner with just the three of us) we decided to drop by HomeGoods and have a look around. It was if the heavens parted…the perfect tufted storage bench was just sitting there…begging to go home with us. It was a perfect fit for her window and the space. And? It was the perfect shade of gray! It was meant to be!
The storage bench is the perfect spot for her to store her clothes that are out of season to free up some of her closet space, which in turn allows her to keep her clutter shut away and hidden in the closet. I also am in love with the nail head trim along the bottom of the bench.
I was also able to pick up some fun storage items for the top of her dresser. She loves to journal and so we picked up this blue wire basket for her to hold her colorful journal collection in along with her favorite childhood stuffed animals. I love the color and texture it adds to the overall look of her room.
These items were just the perfect finishing touches…which is always the part of decorating I struggle with the most! What about you? Do you need some fun storage and organization solutions for a room or multiple rooms in your house?
Well…of course you do. Good thing I get to give FIVE lucky Idea Room Readers a $50 Gift Card to HomeGoods. Pretty exciting right?! Yippee! Homegoods is my Happy Place! So I hope I win. But I’m drooling over your daughter’s headboard. The tufting, the wood trim, the soft fabric to rest her head against while reading in bed….OK I’m projecting here :-) Where is it from? Did you make it (and if so, how?) or buy it? Thanks!
I just LOVE HomeGoods too! We made the bed and the headboard a few years ago. We posted about it here: http://www.theidearoom.net/2011/03/diy-headboard-and-bed-frame-by-amy.html
We simply took a piece of plywood and then tufted it and slipped it into the square area to cover the stencil we had done earlier! We did the tufting similar to the other DIY Tufted Headboard which I shared here: http://www.theidearoom.net/2013/09/belgrave-diy-tufted-headboard.html
Cool! Thanks! That sounds very do-able
Great giveaway and amazing room – it’s SO beautiful!!!
THank you Kelley!
The bedroom is adorable! My twin daughters will be getting their own bedrooms this summer, so I will be redecorating two new tween bedrooms. I am pinning this room to show them! So sweet and pretty!
How exciting! I always wanted twins! I bet they are so excited to get their own spaces!
The room is lovely, great storage ideas. Love the white, yellow and gray theme
Thank you Sue! She LOVES yellow so she wanted to be sure there was plenty in there! ha
This room is absolutely beautiful! You are so talented.
Thank you so much for the sweet comment! Thanks for stopping by!
Such a sweet room!
Where did you find the yellow storage/nightstand? I love it!
Such a great pop of color.
The nightstand came from a local small furniture store. It was a greenish color and so we painted it!
Beautiful room. My daughter is turning 12 this year and has asked that her birthday gift be a total room makeover ~ we are still working out the details of what she wants but I can’t wait to get to it. Love the bench/storage idea to keep clutter in check! Thank you for sharing.
That is what we did for my daughter. She just turned 12 and wanted her room to be made into a teenager’s room. You should see her closet…that is next on our tackling list ;) Good luck! I bet it will turn out great!
The colors are so relaxing at a time when a girls life is so demanding. Kuddos for thinking of her needs now and in the future.
Thank you Kerri! She really wanted a bright, clean look with some fun color. She helped with a lot of the details and picking the colors! I love how peaceful and cheery it feels in there too!
What a pretty, pretty room. HomeGoods is my favorite place on earth. I LOVE shopping there.
