Make some homemade Churro Bites with this delicious and easy Churros Recipe. A great snack and perfect for any occasion!
CHURROS
I love Mexican food. On Cinco de Mayo I like to take the opportunity to make one of our favorite Mexican Dishes. This year I am going to throw these Homemade Churro Bites into the celebration. I have never made them before but have always wanted too. I am always tempted to get a Churro when I am at Disneyland…the smell or warm cinnamon and sugar is just too overwhelming to pass up.
HOW TO MAKE CHURROS
I found this recipe on all recipes and I have to say, they turned out pretty good. We didn’t make them into long churros because I don’t always have a lot of patience…so Churro Bites was a great alternative for me.
Also, we didn’t have a large star tip for my frosting piping bag…but it worked just great. I think when I make them again, I will plan ahead and get a star tip so they can look a little more authentic. But chances are that I won’t remember to pick one up the next time I am at the store. Anyways, here is a short video clip that shows just how easy they are to make.
HOMEMADE CHURROS
But what could be better than a warm, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside Churro that you can make yourself…at home? Not much I tell ya!
Homemade Churros
Make some homemade Churro Bites with this delicious and easy Churro Recipe. A great snack and perfect for Cinco de Mayo celebrations!
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup water
- 3 Tbsp butter, diced
- 2 tsp granulated sugar
- 1/4 +1/8 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup All-Purpose Flour
- vegetable oil, for frying
Cinnamon Sugar Coating
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
Instructions
-
Heat 1 1/2 inches of oil in a heavy bottom pot over medium heat to about 360 degrees.
-
In a medium saucepan combine milk, water, butter, 2 tsp sugar, and salt and bring mixture to a boil.
-
Once it boils, remove it from heat and immediately stir in vanilla and flour.
-
Mix it well so that the dough is nice and smooth.
-
Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a large open star tip (if you have one…I did not) and carefully pipe about 1 to 1 1/2 inches of dough out over oil.
-
Using clean scissors, (or the edge of the pan) cut dough into small pieces and let it drop into the hot oil. Only add a few in the pan at a time so they don’t stick together.
-
Allow churros to fry until golden brown. You may need to stir them occasionally to prevent them from sticking together.
-
When golden brown, remove them from the oil and place them on some paper towels to drain any excess oil.
-
In a plastic bag mix the sugar and cinnamon. Toss warm, drained churros into sugar mixture to evenly coat.
-
For best results serve warm.

Today I am sharing this recipe as part of the Creative Foodies group. Every month we share a fun recipe based on a theme. This month the theme was Mexican Recipes just in time for Cinco de Mayo. There are so many delicious recipes that I think I am going to have to extend Cinco de Mayo over a few days in May. Sounds like a pretty great idea to me.

OMG… These look and sound so delicious. Reminds me of Disneyland because of the smell of cinnamon… when you walk by all the churros trucks. Definitely trying this one out.
