Things here have been busy. May always seems to be crammed full of end of the school year activities at our house. Can you relate? Here are a few things that have been keeping us busy the last couple of weeks.
I shared with my FB fans that Kristen Duke…THE Kristen Duke who posts photography tips here on Thursdays, flew into town for a friend’s wedding. I was able to pick her up from the airport and spend most of last Wednesday with her. We were also able to meet up with Shelley from House of Smith’s and spend a lengthy lunch together. Then later in the week she was able to take some family photos of us. I can’t wait to see them!! Then the next day I was able to attend her Photography Workshop. I learned quite a few things I didn’t know I didn’t know! It was held at a fun little store called The Vintage Cupcake Co. The store had such a fun atmosphere and the cupcakes were so good!
My husband got rear ended on his way home from work while sitting at a stop light last Friday night (while I was getting everyone ready for the Family Photo Session with Kristen)! Luckily the damage to the car was minimal and he was not hurt. We feel very grateful for that! But dealing with getting a car repaired is never fun.
We had some school programs to attend:
Preschool Graduation
Puppet Shows
and a School Melodrama
A Classroom Birthday Spotlight and A Mountain Man Rendezvous, where my son caught a fish and was given one by a friend. We grilled them up for dinner!
We had some music recitals to attend…
And a lot of sporting events to support!
And some play time with some family members who came to spend the weekend with us.
Lots of yardwork, weeding and planting the garden and flowers.
And, last but not least…training for an upcoming race!
(yeah…that’s right…still have last night’s mascara smeared under my eyes… AND this was taken AFTER my run! So no judging )
I am tired. But a good tired. Anyone else feel the same way about May? Glad it is finally over and is now June. Cause June = Summer!! I don’t know about you, but I am looking forward to the lazy days of summer.

I’m with you… May was crazy. We just need to get through Graduation tomorrow and let life slow down.
The Melodramas were fun, we did not eat our fish.

Ha! Good Luck with graduation! The Melodramas were fun! And the fish…well it wasn’t my FIRST choice for dinner but he was excited and thought it tasted terrific :)
Loved this post!! You have such a sweet family Amy :) Looks like you guys have had lots of fun staying busy!!! but yes, nothing like the lazy days of summer…now bring on the sun! :)
awww Thanks Haley! You always leave the nicest comments. Thanks for always taking the time! I definitely notice! Yes…sunshine please!
Hey Amy! This is Kristen’s SIL, Julie. I’ve followed your blog for awhile, but just wanted to say that it was fun to meet you at the workshop and your family photos! Hope your summer calms down a little – I know I’m looking forward to warm weather and being lazy outside
Julie! Thanks so much for the comment. I agree. It was good to meet you too. Thanks for sharing some of your photography skills with me. Wish we could have hung out a bit longer…maybe next time Kristen is in town!
Yay for your race training and yay for June and summer too!!! No strict kids/school routine and homework woohoo!!!
Thanks Faith! It definitely is good motivation…which I need. And I will be so glad to not have a daily schedule!
what race are you running?
I am running a half marathon in August! Yikes!
Whew! That is a very busy but very fun May! Our seemed to be chock full as well. I will be ready when things slow down a bit (and stay a bit warmer) next week!
Me too Em! You are so sweet and I owe you an email :)! Planning on getting to it!
Good luck with your training! I love my running goals and hope yours keeps you really motivated.
Thanks Suzanne! I have been enjoying it for the most part! It gets addicting.
Who are those frickin’ dorks with cameras???
My thoughts exactly…Although not sure why I had to cut all of your feet off. Kristen should have taught me better :)
I can totally relate!!! We stay pretty busy in the Hall household too. I remember when I was going to school at night on top of sporting events, school activities, volunteering, traveling for work, and did i mention school lol.
Oh wow! that is tough! But good for you! Somehow we manage to get through these crazy times!
May totally flew by for me–and we weren’t even as busy as you!
Still crazy here…school doesn’t end until halfway through June for us b/c of all the snow days we had :(
Oh no! That is too bad. I know a lot of people had lots of snow days this year! Hope it settles down soon and goes quickly for you!
I feel the same way! Glad May is over!
Good for you for running! I would love to do something…I just need to get going!
This was a fun read! Not just because I am in a few pics, but because it was fun to see all the events you have done and your kids and the fish…well, I may not have tackled cooking that one. Your kids are adorable;)
Wow… you have so many children… eight??
May is nuts! I’m so glad it’s over. We don’t eat the fish, glad you took yours home to grill up. Love the pictures, especially the one with my cute girl all smile’s, she’s so silly. Oh and don’t forget the best day of all is today, grape smashers :) We need to get the girls together over the summer.
Can I say I’m totally jealous of every word in that first paragraph!!…….sounds like so much fun Amy!!
I love seeing your cute family!
