In August, I attended an event in Dallas,TX hosted by Michael’s. I was so honored to be a part of it along with 14 other bloggers/artists. We were invited out to get to know the Michael’s team which included Joann Pearson – Manager of Where Creativity Happens and a guest judge on the TLC showCraft Wars.
We were able to make some fun crafts with the Michael’s Creativity Team. It was a great way to relax, create and get to know one another. Then, the next day we were invited to Michael’s Leadership Conference and Holiday Showcase.
This was the first time they had allowed anyone other than Michael’s employees and their vendors into this event. Needless to say, we were pretty excited to get a sneak peek into some of the amazing products they were showcasing.
We were able to watch some demos by Tim Holtz and Duff Goldman. Meet several different vendors and get a look at their new and upcoming products. My head was spinning and there was so much to take in. But we all had a great time. I can’t wait to get my hands on some of these new products coming to Michaels.
We were also treated to a surprise visit by the CEO of the Craft & Hobby Association, Andrej Suskavcevic, who shared with us an amazing campaign which will launch in January of 2013–Cre8 Time. Learn more about Cre8 Time in this video.
That night we went out to eat at Smoke and got to learn from the talented Amy Labbe from Art-i-Cake. She is as fun as she looks!
We were spoiled rotten by Michael’s and given a lot of fun craft and art supplies to play with. I can’t wait to get a chance to be able to dig into them. I am really grateful for the chance that I had to take this trip and meet the amazing people behind Michael’s and am excited for some fun things in the works that could affect you as well. So stay tuned!
