Hi Everyone! I’m Mandy and I blog at Sugar Bee Crafts, where you’ll find lots of craft and DIY tutorials, so be sure to stop by! I love fun and easy and colorful crafts, and today’s project is no exception – I’m excited to share these Felt Pinwheel Hairpins with you today as part of the Idea Room Summer Series!
They turned out super cute and I know they’ll get tons of use all summer long (and beyond!)
If you think these are cute, when you’re finished with this tutorial, you’ll also love these other craft projects:

Let’s dive right into the tutorial!
Felt Pinwheel Hairpins
You’ll need:
felt cut into 2 inch squares, along with small scrap felt pieces
bobby pins, buttons (optional)
scissors, hot glue
First you want to cut 4 cuts, from each corner in to the the center, but don’t cut all the way through the center. That will give you four triangle sections. Bring the bottom corner of each triangle section up to the middle and secure it with hot glue.
Next up you cut a small rectangle from scrap felt and slide it inside the bobby pin, all the way to the end. Hot glue that piece of felt (while inside the bobby pin) to the back of the pinwheel. That is what will turn your pinwheel into a hairpin.
On the front where the center comes together, I like to use hot glue to attach a button – for cuteness!
That’s all there is to it! If you would like to see how to make pinwheels in a video tutorial, I have that too! Just hop on over and in a few minutes you’ll be a pinwheel pro!
Such cuteness! And they only take a few minutes to make!
Thanks for having me on The Idea Room today – hope to see you over at Sugar Bee Crafts!
