Hey there! I’m SUPER excited that Amy invited me to be a part of the Summer Series here at The Idea Room. I’m Natalie from Refined Rooms, where I love to share ideas, tips and inspiration to help others create an organized and beautiful home.
Today I’m sharing a free printable Room Redesign Planner, a tool to help you to stay organized during the room makeover process:
Over the past few years, I’ve been on a mission to transform my builder-grade house into a home that better reflects my sense of style. So far, seven different rooms have been completely overhauled (you can check out all of the room makeover reveals here). As this summer draws to a close, I’m gearing up to tackle a few more redesign projects, including my kids’ bathroom, and our guest room (that we’ll be transforming in to a homework station/office/craft space).
One thing I’ve learned in the process of redesigning a room is that there are a lot of moving parts to keep track of during the project. I’ve used quite a few heavy duty home redesign organizational tools to manage these moving parts in previous redesign projects. But sometimes, the simplest organizing solutions are the most useful.
When it comes to gathering inspiration for a room makeover, I love to use a dedicated Pinterest board as a central place for collecting ideas. In addition, I’ll typically create a project binder to store paint samples, contractor information, etc. What’s been missing from my arsenal of room redesign organizational tools? A “Master Planner” that captures all of the key pieces of information about a particular room redesign project.
So this summer, I sat down and created a two-page printable Room Redesign Planner that has a place to record all of the basics I need to complete a decorating project from start to finish. And I’m so excited to share this Planner with all of you!
Use the first page of the Planner to:
- set your goals for the redesign project
- set an overall budget and a deadline for completion
- break down your project into specific action steps
- record specific paint color selections
- make a “decluttering plan” by earmarking existing items in the space that you plan to donate, sell or relocate
- brainstorm ideas for how you can introduce a statement piece into the space to give it that Wow! Factor
The second page of the Planner is where you can:
- record room dimensions and draw out a sketch of your new room layout
- create a detailed shopping list for your project
