Father’s Day Iron Man Shirt

My son is a bit of a science geek AND an athlete (which is a pretty good combination in my mind).  I thought it would be fun to make a shirt that would be a fun little play on words and involved some science humor.  This would also make a fun Father’s Day gift idea that is unique and different.  And, with the popularity of the movie Iron Man right now, this shirt iron on decal could be used for several different things.

For those of you who may not be familiar with the Periodic Table, the Fe in the square box is the Symbol for the element Iron.  Then we added a symbol to represent a man.  So you have “Iron Man”.  Although my daughter was quick to point out that it could also represent “Fe–Male” which my son was not amused to hear.  Haha!!

I have partnered with Cricut to make this shirt and so it is available as a “Make It Now” project on their site.  All you have to do is click a button and you can cut it out on your Cricut Machine on your favorite Iron On Transfer Material and then iron it on to your shirt.  Don’t forget to cut it in a mirror image if you are going to be cutting it our to iron on an article of clothing.  There are more detailed instructions on the “Make It Now” Project at Cricut.com.  The pattern is available for purchase for .99 cents.

If you would like to make you simply click on the button below.

You could also cut it out in a vinyl and use it on a display plaque if you want to use it in a decor type of situation.  Maybe for someone who has completed an Iron Man race or competition, or for your nerdy friend to go in a dorm room.

Father’s Day Gift–Candy Bar Wrappers

I came up with another version of a Father’s Day Gift along the Father’s Day Candy Bar Wrapper theme.  For some reason I just love the idea of wrapping up chocolate bars in fun and creative ways.  I made some a couple of years ago which some of you might remember or actually used.  You can find the printable Candy Bar Wrappers here:

I thought it would be fun to wrap them up to look like they are wearing a suit and tie.  I just created a pattern and used 3 separate pieces of scrapbook paper.  The first pattern is for the suit coat.  I used a gray linen-like scrapbook paper and cut it out and then folded where it is indicated on the pattern.  Then I punched three paper brads through the marked holes for the buttons on the suit.  I used a large glue dot to hold the suit together on the candy bar in the front.

For the white shirt, simply print the pattern onto white cardstock and then cut out the pattern and fold on the lines indicated.  You will fold this up so that it acts as a sleeve to hold the candy bar of your choice in.  Then you will use the third piece of paper to cut out a colorful tie.  Just glue this underneath the flaps of the shirt collar.

Then I printed out some of these round Father’s Day Gift Tag Labels and attached one to the candy bar wrapper with a simple black ribbon.  The gift tags could also be used in so many other ways and on other gifts you might be giving Dad or Grandpa.

The shirt has a fun little Father’s Day quote that will be able to be read when Dad goes to pull out the candy bar inside.
