recipe-book 7

These Recipe Books would be the perfect gift for the women in your life, and with Mother’s Day coming…you might want to make one right now!  I LOVE that you can totally customize these books to how YOU like to organize your recipes.

Simply grab a 3 ring binder (in your favorite color and thickness) and some plastic sheet paper covers from your local office supply store, or order some from Amazon and have them delivered right to your front door.

The nice thing about the protective sheets is that you can slip any size of recipe in them and keep them organized in a pretty manner so that you can keep your recipes clean and easy to find!  You can also keep those sentimental recipes that have your grandmother or mother’s handwriting on them.

You can also add new recipes as you find them on various websites too!  I will be sharing more recipes here too in the upcoming months in order to get MY recipes organized and I will be sharing them here for you to add to your recipe binders as you wish.

I will also be continuing to add to this recipe binder.  I have some different aspects and organizational features I would like to add to keep it organized and functional.  Some of these items are some conversion pages and some tabs for easy referencing.  I will also add a link to the sidebar so that you can check on all the updates in one easy click!

Grapefruit Sugar Scrub Recipe

There are a few things that I get obsessed with…right now it’s Grapefruit.  I am LOVING it!  It is perfect right now.  I have always been obsessed with citrusy fruit and the scent of citrus.  It smells so fresh and clean and makes me feel happy and invigorated.

Sugar-scrub-recipe

You know how much I enjoy making my sugar scrubs and I had yet to make one with Grapefruit…so here it is ;)!

Grapefruit Sugar Scrub

1/2 cup white sugar

1/2 cup raw sugar

up to 1/4 cup almond oil

3-4 drops Grapefruit

1 drop of food coloring (no more or it will stain skin) or drop of raspberry juice

2-3 drops of Vitamin E (optional)

Directions:  Mix the sugars together and slowly add the almond oil until you reach the consistency you like.  I like my scrubs less oily so I always use less than a 1/4 cup.  Add Grapefruit Essential Oil, food coloring and Vitamin E if adding.  Mix thoroughly and store in an airtight container.  Good for up to 3 months if kept bacteria free.

To use:  Rub a little bit of the scrub on your body or between your hands with a little bit of water.  Rinse with warm water to remove excess oils.  It will give your skin a nice exfoliation and leave your skin feeling soft and smooth and smelling fresh and clean.  Great for use in the shower or bath and before bed time.

I, of course, want you to have these fun labels to add to your own containers.  I have made them available as a free download to get them you will need to read these directions very carefully. *I only offer then through Facebook due to misuse of my free labels and copyright due to people selling them or posting as their own.  Sorry about that.

Lemon Sugar Scrub

I am still recovering from this last weekend.  My feet are killing me.  We did a lot of walking and running back and forth to make sure everything was running smoothly with  the Snap Conference.

Me feet needed a little extra love and pampering.  So I was excited to be able to use some of this amazing Lemon Sugar Scrub.  I whipped it up a couple of weeks ago and have used it a couple of times but still had some left. Perfect!

It is so easy to make. Really! I simply took two cups of white granulated Sugar and mixed in a 1/4 cup to 1/3 cup Almond Oil (Coconut Oil will work too).  Add the oil slowly till you have a nice soft consistency that is soft but not too oily.  Then add a few drops of Lemon Essential Oil.

Scoop the mixture into a pretty jar.  And keep it all to yourself.  Or…if you are the sharing type…which sometimes I am, gift it to your mom or one of your best girlfriends!  They will love you forever!

This stuff is really so amazing and feels so decadent and expensive.  No one will be the wiser that it was so easy and inexpensive to make.  Those are the best kind of gifts to give…am I right?

This makes your feet so soft and makes them smell so good.  Perfect for those summer time feet.

I made the labels on my Silhouette CAMEO.  I made the file into a pdf so that you can print it out here.  Simply print on white card stock and cut it out and glue on the jar with a glue stick.  Works like a charm.

I have to say that I am in a bit of shock with how kind all of you have been. And I seriously just looked at my stat counter and swear it was only at 3,000. Where have you all come from?? I have enjoyed reading all of your nice comments and am inspired to try to keep the ideas coming. Thanks for all of your support!

Now, are any of you still looking for that last minute Mother’s Day gift? What mom wouldn’t enjoy a long, quiet, no kids allowed, soak in a hot tub? These are super easy, and chances are you already have most, if not all, of the ingredients in your home. This is a recipe which my sister used to make for her friends a few years ago.

3 cups epsom salt
2 cups baking soda
1 cup table salt
Food or soap coloring
Scented essential oil

If you want more than one scent and color, separate into different bowls before adding the color and scent. Then you can have 2-3 different choices to choose from. Let the bath salts dry for 24 hours before placing them into your decorative jars.

**My sister reminded me that some essential oils are better when using on your skin than others are. Try to find the ones that contain mineral oils or natural oils and are free from acetone and drying ingredients.
