March Photo-a-day Challenge 2013

It has been so much fun to see all of your fun photos. I feel like I am getting to know many of you and recognize your instagram faces and feeds! Are you enjoying playing along? I am! Although I still have missed several days, I am enjoying the challenge and it gets me taking photos of my everyday life.

Many of you have been anxious to see the Instagram Challenge prompts for the month of March…So…without further ado…here they are, the March Photo a Day Challenge 2013!

What is exactly is photo-a-day you say?
Every month I share with you some photo prompts or suggestions for each day of the month. You can play along by taking a picture of your interpretation of the prompt (or come up with your own if you don’t like it).

How do I play along?
You can share your photos through any of the social media platforms: Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, your Blog, Flickr, etc.

You can tag me @theidearoom on your social media sites too if you want me to be able to see it! I love to see what my readers are sharing! It makes my day!

Simply add the hashtag #idearoom so that the rest of us who are playing can follow along and we can all see your photos.

What is a hashtag and how does it work? A hashtag is the pound sign (#) followed by a word of short phrase (without a space) that describes or classifies your tweet or photo on Twitter or Instagram. If you click on a hashtag you will be taken to a list of tweets or pictures all containing the same hashtag.

How can I see other people’s photos?
Once you’ve shared your own photo, and included the hashtag #idearoom, simply click on the the hashtag. You will be taken to a screen with everyone’s photos who have also added the idearoom hashtag. Go ahead and comment and like each other’s photos. This way everyone has fun!

What if you forget a day…or 2…or 20?
Not a big deal…really! Just start up again. You can play catch up, or just start again. No one will care…I promise. Heck…I skipped plenty of days when life got too crazy and the prompts are mine!! Share with your friends and family! Have fun. The point is to get you to record your everyday moments. To capture a small snapshot of your day.

I am not sure why I feel compelled to come up with another Photo-A-Day Challenge for Instagram series since I failed miserably on November’s #gratefulgram. Ha! But in my defense, my daughter was in a local production of The Nutcracker. We had a great time and loved being a part of it, but as a mom…well, you know how those kinds of things can be…!

We were supposed to be at the auditorium every night for dress rehearsals and performances for a 6 days straight. So needless to say, I cut everything that was unnecessary from my life for a couple of weeks so I could take care of things here at home and be where I needed too.

And now that it is over, and life has resumed somewhat “normally” I thought it would be fun to issue another photo challenge…this time for December! If you want to play along, you are always welcome to join us.

No pressure. If you miss a day…or two…or 16…it really isn’t a big deal. Just join in when you can. The point is to get you taking pictures and recording those everyday moments in your life. If you don’t like the photo prompt for the day, use your own!

To play along simply take a photo and post it to one of your social media sites. I use Instagram to post mine too and then sometimes share them on Facebook and Twitter. Please use the hashtag #idearoom to tag your photos. This will then add your photo to the list of photos under the #idearoom hashtag. If you click on the “#idearoom” it will pull up everyone’s photos who are playing along. So you can see all the fun things The Idea Room readers are sharing.

Gratitude Gram—Photo-a-day Challenge

Happy Halloween! Today I have a fun Picture to Instagram project. I hope all of you have a great and safe Halloween Holiday. With the passing of Halloween comes one of my favorite times of the year…Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving has to be one of my favorite holidays for a few simple reasons…

I feel like Thanksgiving tends to get the shaft, sandwiched between Halloween and Christmas. And with the Christmas retail practically taking over my local stores since early fall, it seems like everyone forgets about poor Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving is a time for us to reflect on our many blessings, and to be thankful for all that we have. We truly are blessed and I believe that the people who are the happiest are those who are grateful and thankful for the blessings they ALREADY enjoy.

So I thought it would be fun to see if you guys were interested in participating in my Grateful Gram Challenge. This is like the past Photo-A-Day Challenges that I shared with you this past summer. You know the ones that I slowly fizzled out on? Ha Ha!

I think I can do this for ONE MONTH. What about you? You want to play along?

How will it work? Simply take a photo each day during the month of November, of the item listed for that day. Then post it to your favorite Social Media Site. I will be posting mine to Instagram (my name is theidearoom), Facebook and Twitter. Post the picture and a small description that includes the daily topic and these two hashtags…#gratefulgram and #idearoom.

*By including the hashtags, people can follow along. To see who is participating, simply click on either of the hashtags and it will pull up ALL the pictures.

I can’t wait to see all the things you are grateful for. And…if you have a hard time coming up with a photo for the idea listed by the day, don’t sweat it…take a picture of something else you are grateful for. The point is to just get us thinking and being aware of our many blessings. And if you can’t get everyday, just do what you can.
