Valentine’s Day Crafts gift and milk bottles—Silhouette promotion

I was recently sent some Double-Sided Adhesive paper from Silhouette and challenged to come up with a creative way to use it and make some Valentine’s Day Crafts.  I have never used this before and I have to tell you, I was really quite surprised with how much I enjoyed it.

Alright, now onto how I made these glittery milk and gift bottles.

Directions:

  1. I found some fun heart shapes in the Online Silhouette Store and downloaded them.
  2. Sized them in the Silhouette Software to 1.5 inches in width.
  3. Cut them out according to the directions on the Double-Sided adhesive box.
  4. My settings were:  Speed: 3; Thickness: 33; Blade setting: 6 using my mat and a double cut.
  5. Peel off the back yellow layer of paper on an individual heart.

  1. Placed onto clean “milk” bottles (which are repurposed Starbucks Frappucino Bottles)
  2. Peeled off the white top layer and made sure all the adhesive was pulled out of the negative space area where I did not want any glitter.
  3. Dust glitter over the sticky adhesive and then using a clean brush, brushed away the excess glitter.

Then fill the bottles with your favorite drink.  These bottles can be used at a Valentine’s day party in the classroom, or with your friends and family.

For Valentine’s Day we usually have a nice candle-light family dinner.  I think I will be including these as part of the table settings this year!

Or you could gift the jars to a special friend as a nice little Valentine’s Day gift along with some VERY RICH chocolate sweets!  Your friends will thank you!

For the fun Heart Shaped Cookies in the photos, I simply took a favorite Chocolate Drop Cookie Recipe and cut the cookies with a heart shaped cookie cutter.  Then made a cookie sandwich by spreading some delicious Cream Cheese Frosting in between the two layers.

Cause seriously…if you are going to eat a treat…it might as well be a good one…right?  All things in moderation of course.  So limit yourself to 2…or 3 depending on the type of day your having…haha!

Tic-Tacs Tik-Tok Valentine

Here is another quick and easy homemade Valentine’s Day gift.  This is another simple one that you can simply print the label and paste it right over the existing label of a box of Tic Tac’s.

It doesn’t get any simpler than that does it?  These could be fun to give to your teacher or your significant other alone or in a gift basket.

I have a couple more simple gift ideas coming this week and then I promise to move on to some bigger and better home décor items.  Is anyone else getting tired of the cold at your house?  I have been so unmotivated because it has been so frigid over here!  My pipe in my kitchen sink even froze.  If you follow me on FB you know that we were luckily able to get the pipe to thaw slowly, saving us from a burst pipe.  Thank Goodness!  Those are not fun!

I have an entire week of some simple Valentine’s Day Gifts ideas and free printables to go with them coming up!  I meant to get this up sooner…but had to deal with a frozen pipe under my kitchen sink today.  Good news is, we were able to slowly thaw the frozen line and so far things look like a disaster has been averted. Thank goodness!

Valentines Day Crafts – Candy Rings

I have actually had these pictures taken for several days and totally forgot to share them with you…womp…womp! So I realize this may be too late for you to make some Valentine’s Day Candy rings this year unless you want to make a fun Valentine Craft with your kiddos and have the supplies on hand or have time to run out and get some quickly.

They literally just take seconds to make but can be worn to provide a little extra festivity to your day. Or you can whip some up really quickly and give them to someone special. valentines day candy rings 2wm Of course we had some empty ring forms laying around which I found after cleaning up my craft room recently *ahem*!! We simply took some Sweet Tart Conversation Heart Candy and glued them right onto the ring forms with some hot glue. They held up really well and then when my little one wanted to eat her ring, we simply broke the candy off. Part of the candy broke off and left a perfectly good piece of candy for her to eat…sans glue. valentines-day-crafts Now, I personally would not eat the candy after wearing it…but this particular child has no qualms about that sort of a thing… Valentines-Day We also tried our hand at making some jelly candy rings. We just simply stuck the candy right onto a ring pop form like we used on these past Candy Rings. valentines-day-gifts Such a simple idea that your kids can help you create. And would be a fun little gift idea or a party favor for a little ones birthday. Change up the candy and make them fit other holidays too for greater flexibility! Valentines-Day I hope all of you have a Great Valentine’s Day!! Pin It

Love Potion no. 9 Labels

Things around here are starting to get put back together and I am making progress on getting my new office organized and the old one cleaned up.  Our floors are in now and I can’t wait to share our progress with you.  We still have quite a bit of work to do as far as the baseboards, some painting and etc.

So I have not been crafting much.  But I did manage to make some fun printable Valentine’s Day Love Potion no. 9 Labels and/or tags.

These are a really simple addition to a cute bottle filled with candy or your favorite drink.

Valentines-Day-Love-Potion

I burned the edges of this label and colored the label with a brown crayon very lightly but darker around the edges to make it look like aged paper.

Valentines-Project

Or you can cut around the edges of the label and then glue it onto your container…a plastic test tube in this case to make it like a sticky label.

Valentines-Day-Projects

And, because I like sharing, I have made it available for you to download for your own purposes if you would like.  I made them in brown or in white if you want to color them on your own.  If you would like a different size you can simply choose to print them out at greater than 100% to make them bigger or smaller than 100% if you need them smaller.

Love-Potion-9 | theidearoom.net

To make the labels for the test tube I printed them at 75% of the original size.  For the round glass container I printed them at 100%.
