SUGAR SCRUB
Are you guys ready for another Sugar Scrub? There is just something about the Summer Season right upon us that has me craving a good sugar scrub recipe. I love how easy sugar scrubs are to make and use. I also love how soft and smooth they leave your skin feeling.
HOW TO USE A SUGAR SCRUB
Use the sugar scrub to gently exfoliate your skin. Put 1-2 tablespoons into your palm and massage into your skin using circular motions. Rinse off throughly with warm or hot water in the shower.
Sugar scrubs clean and exfoliate your skin by getting rid of dead skin cells and cleaning out clogged pores. It evens out your skin, leaving it with a radiant glow! It leaves your skin feeling clean, soft, and fresh!
BROWN SUGAR SCRUB
This Brown Sugar Scrub is actually one of my very first Sugar Scrubs. I shared it way back when I first started blogging and is still one of our most popular recipes to this day.
My photo skills have come a long way since then. And I have been dying to make this scrub again and take better photos. I finally got around to doing it.
This sugar scrub recipe uses simple ingredients that are great for smoothing and moisturizing your skin. I have found that my very favorite oil to use for scrubs is coconut oil. I did not know about coconut oil 3 years ago so I have made the change in the old recipe.
SUGAR SCRUB ADD-INS
There are a lot of different ingredients you can add into your sugar scrub to enhance the smell and flavor of them. It is a great way to customize your sugar scrub and make it exactly the way you like.
- Essential Oils: I love using essential oils in my sugar scrub! Citrus oils (like lemon, orange, lime, and grapefruit) provide a nice, fresh aroma. You could also use a minty essential oil, such as lavender or peppermint. These are very soothing and relaxing.
- Vanilla Extract: It smells amazing! Imagine a vanilla brown sugar scrub…delicious!
- Seed and Nut Oils: These include coconut oil, avocado oil, jojoba oil, sweet almond oil, and extra virgin olive oil. These oils are rich in minerals and antioxidants that help moisturize your skin.
- Vitamin E Oil: This is very good to moisturize and help repair your skin.
- Honey: Raw honey has a soothing effect and smoothes out the skin.
- Lemon Juice: It has an uplifting aroma and is good for the skin.

I do actually have labels! I am having trouble with my pdf creator and will get them up as soon as possible so you can print them out! I will leave a comment here and let you know when I am able to post them.
Hello! How can I print out those adorable labels? thank you!

I clicked on your brown sugar label link and it directs you to the PDF of the Peppermint sugar scrub. I would love to print just the brown sugar scrub label. Is there a way I can get that?
Thanks,

Hello! You have such wonderful ideas & I love your blog!
Do you think using mason jars would work as a container for the sugar scrubs? I have a ton & would love to use them up.
Yes! Mason jars would be perfect! I love using them. Just be careful that if you are using them in the shower just be careful about the slippery wet jar so it doesn’t break.
This looks amazing and I already have the ingredients, so that’s a plus.
By the way, I tweeted about this tutorial because I like it so much.
Thanks for sharing. :)
That is one of the things I enjoy about these scrubs, easy ingredients. Thanks so much for sharing it! :)
Coconut oil is only good if you have dry skin. If your someone who has normal or oily its best to use something more like saffron oil.
I meant safflower oil, its water soluble
i;ve made a similar one and added vanilla (i saw it at wills casa) and LOVE it! i use it all the time and i call it cookie dough scrub and use it on my kids, too!
Okay, even I can do this! Love it!
Where do you get the cute labels to print them on?
Where can you find coconut oil?
You can buy it at most grocery stores now. I get a nice big jar of it at Costco and I have also seen a large jar of it at Wal-Mart.
Where do you get the label paper to print the labels on?
I have made scrubs using white sugar, coconut oil, olive oil and Vitamin E oils, but never made a brown sugar one. I will need to try this out. Especially for when the holidays roll around again!
Is it in the cooking isle or down the beauty isle!? Thanks for sharing making this tomorrow to give to the hostesses of my bridal shower!! Thanks :)
You should be able to find the coconut oil in the cooking area with all the other cooking oils.
Is the brown sugar sugar scrub an all over body scrub?
Is it okay to use cooking oil? Lol!
hey can send me the ingredients to the brown sugar scrub looks great
I want to make this and give it as christmas gifts to my co-workers. How long is this shelf stable? Will it go bad?
I made this in the “am” and by the “pm” it was rock hard and didn’t look anything like the picture. Hmmmm, I followed the directions and ingredients exactly. I love it but it sucks having to chisel away at it to use it
That is the coconut oil and depending on the temp it is, it will do that. In a shower it is soft. It should be softer in the summer. If it is too cold, next time use the almond oil.
Do you have instructions for use? Do you apply this to a wet face after cleansing? Do you follow up with a moisturizer or mask? Thank you!
I usually just use this on my hand and feet.
hello,
I made the brown sugar scrub but it got hard (rock solid) .
Can you please let me know what I did wrong.
I want it to be dry with just enough coconut oil
Shweta
Shweta- Was it soft at first? You do need to keep this in an airtight container after you make it. Not sure if you did that or not. Otherwise, it should have turned out if you followed the recipe.
