Make a festive ice wreath to add to your outdoor Christmas Decor. These are so simple to make and don’t cost you anything. I just took a bundt pan (but any round pan with a hole in the middle will do. Then I gathered items from around my yard like rose hips, berries, pinecones, and pineneedles and placed them in the pan half filled with water.
Then I simply placed the pan into my freezer. The next day I had a frozen wreath. To remove the wreath from the pan I just ran the bottom of the pan under hot water for a few seconds and the wreath slid right out. Run a piece of ribbon through the hole and hang your new wreath. You might want to handle the wreath with gloves on your hands.
These wreaths can last up to a few weeks depending on where you place it and how cold the weather is in your area! They can also be used in your table centerpieces for a dinner party if you placed them on top of a pan to collect the melted water. You could also make ice “candles” by freezing water in a tall glass or cylindrical container!

super easy and cute!!! i live in texas, and it only freezes a few times a year, so it wouldn't last, but i still might have to try this!
Amy,
I LOVE your blog and all of your cute ideas. This wreath is beautiful. I have never made one before but I remember hearing from someone who has that if you use distilled water, it freezes clearer than regular tap water so you can see the berries and branches a little better. Just thought I'd share that tip.
That is SO CUTE – too bad I live in Florida and it's 80° today – but I will definitely share it with my friends that live in colder climates!
so cute posted a link on my FB couldn't resist!! :) thanks for such a great idea!! :) might make one anyhow with my kids! they can watch it melt..not cold enough here to last! fantastic idea tho!
These are on our to do list for next month! I can't wait!
Fun!!! It may just stay cold enough here this year!
this is outrageously creative!! now we just have to hope it actually freezes on christmas!
Love your blog, you are so great not just for making all these wonderful things, but for sharing them! Have followed it for a month now and have made several things successfully thanks to your detailed instructions. Your kids are lucky to have you as a mom. =)
VERY COOL!(no pun intended)I'M THINKING THAT THE BIRDS MIGHT LOVE THIS…IT GETS COLD ENOUGH HERE IN THE EVENING TOO…GOOD IDEA! Come say hi :D
What a fun idea! Too bad they would last all of ten seconds here…
I'm sending this idea off to my Mother who lives in Minnesota :) Love it!
Great idea! We tried some ourselves- check them out… http://fromonemommatoanother.blogspot.com/2009/12/ice-wreaths.html
This is pure genius! tfs
I have used this same idea many times but for punch. Okay so maybe not with pine cones but the idea is the same. You use oranges or any fruits that would go with your punch and just freeze it. Now you have a beautiful ring floating in your punch. This is especially nice at Thanksgiving with orange slices and other fall colors. I learned this trip from my mother who used to decorate weddings.
Very cute idea! unfortunately our Christmases here in Aus. get up to 40 degrees or so in the middle of summer (about 105 fahrenheit) so it’s a little hard but the candles would be a great idea all year round so it might just get cold enough in winter to maybe try them out :) great post, thank you so much!
Have made these and they are really interesting. Cranberries work great. After the first freezing, I filled the pan completely full and froze it again. That way the deco is in the middle and lasts longer when it starts to thaw.
