As many of you know, we remodeled our kitchen over two years ago, however, we did not update our kitchen appliances at the same time. Our appliances, while several years old, were still in good working condition. My kitchen pantry and desk area were two areas of the kitchen we still had plans to update. I have always wanted to have a pretty pantry with some glass French Doors.
Working with Lowe’s and Frigidaire Professional, we were able to update our pantry, the kitchen desk, add some new light fixtures, and update our appliances.
Pantry Update:
Before the update, our pantry had these bifold doors. They were functional and hid away the mess of our pantry. There wasn’t anything wrong with them, but I had always loved kitchens with beautiful, visible, and organized pantries. So I knew that someday I would add some pretty French Doors. I am so happy with how it turned out!

We removed the old shelving, which was simply boards on shelving brackets. Then we took some pre-made closet towers from Lowe’s to create the shelving and drawers inside of the pantry. In a later post, we will share with you how we built the pantry, along with how we updated our kitchen desk, and the products we used from Lowe’s.
Lighting Update:
We added this fun Pendant Light from Lowe’s over the kitchen sink. I love how unique and different it is. The other light we had really didn’t do much for the space. The light has now become more of a focal point by adding some interest to the sink area and ties in the oil bronzed hardware we have throughout the kitchen.
You can actually move the pendant light up and down with the pulley and adjust it to your preferred height. I love the light it provides while I am working in the kitchen.

We also added these mini Pendant Lights over the counter top. They provide some decoration as well as great lighting. The kids spend a lot of time as this counter working on homework, projects, eating lunch or helping with dinner preparations.

I love the clear glass as opposed to the opaque glass pendants we had before. We added some antique looking light bulbs in the pendant lights.
Frigidaire Professional Appliances
Frigidaire supplied us with new appliances from their Frigidaire Professional collection, which is available at Lowe’s. The Frigidaire Professional appliances fit perfectly into my standard kitchen, so I didn’t have to remove any of my kitchen cabinets or change my kitchen layout.
I love the look and feel of the Frigidaire Professional appliances and they deliver consistency, precision and freshness which in turn can help me to offer a variety of great tasting meals and food for my family. The appliances resist fingerprints and clean easily due to the appliances Smudge-Proof Stainless Steel.

Frigidaire Professional Convection Electric Range
The range features PowerPlus® Convection for consistently more even results, especially when baking multiple items at once. This is especially important for me because I have a large family, and often find myself needing to bake two casseroles or several loaves of bread at the same time.
The range also features the PowerPlus® Temperature Probe which allows you to set and monitor dish temperature to ensure great results. With PowerPlus® Preheat the oven is ready in a few minutes which allows a powerful start to your baking. For further product information and details, go here: Frigidaire Professional Series Range.
Frigidaire Professional Microwave
The Frigidaire Professional Microwave allows you to bake more evenly at microwave speed, all-in-one. With teenage boys and their friends in the home, the microwave gets a lot of use for second lunches and second dinners!
With several pre-timed cooking settings, your food can be heated at just the right power level and time to produce great heating results.
Frigidaire Professional French Door Refrigerator
The French Door Refrigerator optimizes space, and preserves freshness and taste with an innovative PureAir Ultra Filtration System. The filtration system removes up to 7 times more odor than baking soda by removing odor particles with fast acting, highly absorbing carbon technology.
The fridge shelving system has adjustable crisper bins and SpacePro™ Slide-Under and Flip-Up Shelves so you can adjust them to fit items in your fridge based upon your personal needs.
As a family of seven, our fridge tends to be full to overflowing to allow for our family’s needs. The side by side french doors have allowed us plenty of space for our needs.
Frigidaire Professional Dishwasher
The Frigidaire Professional Dishwasher can wash dishes in a quarter of the time with its PowerPlus® 30 Minute Wash cycle. The OrbitPower™ Wash Technology offers four times better wash coverage. Dishes are cabinet ready with the PowerPlus® Dry technology.
We go through a lot of dishes with seven mouths (and their friends) in our home. Sometimes we run multiple washes a day and the 30 Minute Wash is a life saver, allowing us to wash the dinner dishes in time to serve dessert on the same dishes 30 minutes later.
I am so happy with the overall updates to our kitchen space. I spend a lot of time here by myself and with the family members. The kitchen is one of our main gathering spaces and it is important to me to have a space I can feel at home in and enjoy with my people.
Finally, we updated our kitchen desk area. We built some drawers that have a much needed purpose in our home. Come back to see what we created them for! I will be sharing a tutorial for the pantry and the kitchen desk in a later post.

Where did you get your wooden tray beside your sink with the soap and towels on it? Also where did you get the basket with the cutting boards in it? Thanks so much! Love your kitchen, makes me want a new one!

The wooden tray is from Target in the dishes aisle. The wire basket is from Lowe’s.
Your kitchen looks fantastic! The new lights really changed the look of the space, the appliances are stunning (and it sounds like they have great features, too), and the pantry is gorgeous. I’ve pinned the pantry as inspiration for my own pantry makeover. I plan to removed the tiny desk/counter/cabinet next to my pantry and expand my pantry to create more space and better organization. I love the glass front doors, too, but I’ll probably frost mine- you are braver than I am using clear glass! Beautiful!
Thank you Amanda! It is brave. I am usually a hide it away person. But I knew it would motivate me to keep it tidy. So far so good…I can always frost them later :). Thanks for the sweet comment!
I love all your updates!! Where is the family rules sign from??
I got the sign at Between You and Me Signs….https://www.etsy.com/shop/BetweenYouAndMeSigns
Beautiful kitchen! What an inspiration of ideas! I wanted to know where did you get the wall art (say your prayers) in the dining area? I love it!
I love the lights over the island. Do they provide good lighting or just ambient lighting?
They provide great lighting. You can also put different wattage bulbs in them according to what you need.
Do you have a link to your subway tile? Thanks!
I love it! Where did you get the stools? Also what kind of countertop is that?
can I ask how big your kitchen is? We’re looking at the exact same layout for our new kitchen, but I think our space is a little bit smaller than yours.
Could you please tell me where you purchased stools?
Can you give specifics about the flooring? I’m looking to install new flooring in the next few months and I love this flooring.
Love it all. We are getting ready to do our kitchen through Lowe’s. I like the ceiling, how did you guys do it?
Here is the tutorial. Thanks. http://www.theidearoom.net/2012/08/wood-planked-ceiling.html
can you please share your quartz name. looked at prev post but you never the name.
Countertops are a Greige Quartz (I absolutely LOVE them). Thank You!
Kitchen looks amazing where did you get those stools I really like them as well
Thank You! I bought them on Amazon.
Love your kitchen! Are the cabinets from Lowe’s also? If so, could you tell me the name? Thank you!
They are not from Lowes. We had them done by a local cabinet company.
Really like the kitchen desk. Did those cabinets and drawers come from Lowes?
No, they are from a local company. Thanks.
Love it !! Pinned it! Can you tell me the name of the paint color? Very light and pretty.
The paint color is Benjamin Moore’s Quiet Moments which is a nice soft blue with gray undertones. I LOVE it.
Your color choices are spot on and bound to give you a great return on investment on your home’s resale. White cabinets are in with home buyers and I see you have a darker contrasting color for your countertops. Well done. On top of that the style of the cabinets are very luxurious looking and this is equally appealing.
What kind of flooring do you have? Name & brand please :) it’s so pretty. We are fixing to remodel our first fixer upper and the hardwood choice has been the hardest.
Do you remember where you got the chandelier over the dining room table? Thanks!
Beautiful kitchen, with white and gray make the kitchen became more bright and clean.
Thank you!
Hi, I love the kitchen. I am having trouble blending my ideal white kitchen cabinets, with dark leather sectional couch in an open concept kitchen. I love some of you choices….but especially like the Kitchen table with the mix of colors and the fabric chairs. Do you recall where you go it?
Thanks!
Also, another question on the knobs on the cabinets – are they black or rubbed bronze. I love the faucet and see that has a bronze finish so wondering if they matched. Can’t tell by the pictures.
Thanks!
Jennifer- Thank you! They are the same as the faucet, rubbed bronze.
Jennifer- We picked up the linen chairs from RC Willey (after much searching) and the cross back wood chairs from a small local furniture store. They table we made. Hope this helps. Thanks so much!
Your kitchen is shaped exactly like mine and I’ve been searching for what to do when we redo it in the spring. You obviously have white trim in your house, though and we have wood. Would the white cabinets work with wood trim? We really need a change – our cabinets are currently a cream color (70″s style) with a blue laminate countertop. Time for it to GO! Thanks for any advice you can give!
Janet- I think it that would work just fine.
