The mountain right above my house (like literally less than a mile) is on FIRE!
We have been watching it all afternoon. I am so sad! In 2003, the very first summer we lived here we had another fire that burned up the canyon and burned down some of my favorite pine trees. Now this fire is burning the mountain that I love to look at out of the front of my house.
Luckily there are no houses the direction it is burning. I do think there may be some cabins up in the higher mountains though which I hope are not threatened.
I am literally taking these photos from my neighbors house as I had some trees blocking my view. Look at those brave firefighters making the trek up the mountain to fight that fire. I LOVE firemen! Does any one else think that almost all firemen are pleasing to the eye? No seriously! But that is another subject.
I hope they are able to put it out soon!
Hoping that everyone fighting it stays safe too. I would hate for one of those brave firemen {*ahem*} to get hurt!

Oh no!! What canyon is that ?? My husband worked as a paramedic for years right along side of those CUTE firemen :)
That is so scary….It must feel hot too! Hope all will be well with you and your home! :D
Wow, this looks like a scary situation. Thank God no homes or lives are in danger. Great photos…I love the photo with those {Cute} firemen all in a row!!! ;)
Take care~~~
Oh no, hopefully they put it out quickly with little damage. I soooooo dig firemen too. It is that whole night in shining armour thing.
Look at those hot firemen! I mean the fire. I hate fire. So destructive and dangerous. Here's hoping the gorgeous brigade gets everything under control and stays safe while they do it.
Oh no – I hope they get it under control soon! We live at the base of Little Cottonwood Canyon and have had some big fires, but not as close as that one is to you. Stay safe!

We are trying to sell our home in West Jordan and move out to your neck of the woods. This is a good reminder of some of the things we might encounter. Hope all is well and no more is burned. Stay safe!
I'm so sorry! I hope everyone is safe and that they put it out soon. Firemen are definitely the best…my father is one! (Needless to say, I don't think they are fun to look at!) Stay safe.
Wow! I am going to watch the channel 5 news to see if your picture are there!
You must live right by me, I could stand on my front porch and look right up at the fire. So scary. But oh the cute firemen that take care of those things for us, i'm so thankful for them. Wendy–there's a cute house for sale in my neighborhood if you're looking to come out this way.
Yes what is it about those hotties, pun intended.
On a serious note, I do hope that everything works out and that all involved stay safe and well.
I just found your blog and love it!
I am so sorry to hear that! I recently moved to Oregon and I am in love with the trees! Sad day for them….
I grew up near hills that caught fire in S. CA. My dad would put old wool blankets on our roof, attach sprinklers, and start them up. We never lost our home, but came close twice. It was scary, but dad was our hero. Hope they are able to get it out soon and that all will be well with your home and family.
Your butterfly collection made this week's Top 5 Hits (that will post at midnight) at Singing With Birds. Please check it our and grab a button. My best to you and thanks for sharing.
wow…that is scary!
I hope it doesn't come close enough you have to worry about your home and be evacuated. I also live in Utah…we have very similar landscape right near my home and we have had some close fires…it is scary. Hope all goes well and they get it all out asap.
Where is that? How sad and scary to see something so close on fire. :(
And YES, just in my opinion, my husband is quite the handsome guy, but being a firefighter and a paramedic makes him HOT!
You must live right by me. We could see the fire from our front yard too. Scary! Now it's just all smokey.
I saw that fire on the news tonight. Sorry it's so close to you, or anyone for that matter. We had one similar a few years ago where I live. Super scarey. Now the mountain is so beautiful and green you'd never know it happened. Hopefully it will be put out soon without anyone losing their homes or lives. Keep us posted.:)
I hope they were ably to contain it quickly!
Oooh! I hate those fires! We used to live near the base of Provo Canyon and I always hated when I could see fires on any of the surrounding mountains!
I just about cried when I saw the fire too! I vividly remember the other fire in 2003 as well.
Hahaha cute firemen! I am married to one of those cute ones, he was at many of the big fires here in California, navigating around the redwoods and hiking cliffs, but he still can't find the freaking clothes hamper. But they do something that many of us couldn't and for that I am thankful.
I hope all is well, and know that with fire comes renewed life, sometimes it's the best thing for an area, and God will always make sure it comes back if we don't bugger it all up. We have giant Sequoia's about 5 hours NorthEast of us and they only way they can reproduce is for the pinecones to be in a fire.

I'm obviously a bit behind, but just wanted to give you my well wishes! I used to be a wildfire information officer and it throws me back to see these pics :) You really got some great ones too! Glad all is well and I hope the hillside rehabs well for you guys!
Oh look! There is my brother!
How scary Amy!! I hope they have it under control now!!
