Three years ago (THREE years ago…how has it been this long?) I shared with you a fun little Christmas gift idea with you…Magic Reindeer Feed. This is not a new idea, but I have been wanting to update the packaging from my earlier version.
I love to give this to my little nieces and nephews at our annual GingerBread House Making Party for them to sprinkle on their lawns or snow on Christmas Eve. They love it! My kids have even given this to their friends for a little Christmas present. It is such a simple gift, but one that most kids love to get.
If you are unfamiliar with Reindeer Feed…the premise is that you sprinkle it on your lawn on Christmas Eve night. It guides Santa’s Reindeer to your home.
To make the Reindeer Feed for the sacks, simply fill with Rolled Oats and some colored sprinkles (do not use glitter as the wild life may eat it and it can do serious damage to them).
I simply stenciled some small linen bags, which I purchased at Michael’s, with the image of a Reindeer on one side of the bag and the words “Reindeer Feed”. I am sharing the files for both stencils if you would like them.

Love it Amy! The update is fab.
Thanks Mique!
Not sure how to stensil the reindeer and words onto the bags? I’m sure this is a stupid question, but I’m confused!!!!
Sorrry!
Not a dumb question! I used my Silhouette to cut out a stencil…but I realize most do not have that machine. So I provided a pdf that you can print out onto cardstock paper and make your own stencil if you want. Just cut out the letters with an exacto knife and then use it to stencil the reindeer feed onto your bag with paint. Does that make sense?
I tried the stencils – yours turned out much nicer. The lettering was impossible, it was so small.
I was going to make the feed this week, great minds. Yours is way cuter anyway, lol! Love it!! Great staging and cute idea! XO
haha! Great minds! I don’t really believe that mine is cuter! You should still share yours! xo
So fun!-My new little neighbors are going to love this!
Thank you so much Leigh Anne! You are so sweet! I hope they do love it!
I have the same question, how do you stencil it on?
Margaret–sorry for the confusion. You can print out the pdf and make a stencil and stencil with paint onto your linen bags. I answered a little bit better on the earlier comment with the same question. Obviously I did not make that clear enough in the post! I will go and re-word it!
Such a fun idea Amy! I pinned it :)
xoxo
Thank you my friend!
My kids are going to love this! Thanks for sharing!
Such a cute idea!! Thanks, Amy!
Adorable. Thanks for providing all of the freebies too! I’ve been told santa may be bringing me a silhouette for christmas, can’t wait to be able to use it for all your cute stenciling ideas! Yay!
Oatmeal isn’t eaten by any wildlife here in Minnesota, so I doubt it is eaten by wildlife where you live. If you filled the bags with bird seed, peanuts or sunflower seed it would help the birds, rabbits and other small animals get through the winter months.
I love this idea! Could u please share the link for the free printable? I can’t find it in your FB page .TIA
Thanks for the tags. Going to use these for my boy’s class.
Can you tell me which fonts you used for “reindeer food”. I love those!
I would love to get the stencil for this! The link is not working. :)
Hi there! I just love this & would really like to get the printables, but for some reason the page is not found? Could you please check the link or send it to me? Thank you!
