“Mom, I’m BORED!” Has anyone heard this at your house yet this summer? I was tipped off to this fun idea by one of my readers, Letti. I liked it so much we have implemented it in our home this summer.
If someone states that they are “bored” then they have to pull a slip of paper out of the Boredom Buster Jar. Then they must complete what the slip says. Most of them are small chores to help cure them of their boredom blues. But the slight twist is that I threw a few fun activities in there as a fun surprise.
When my kids have had to pull a chore, they haven’t complained about being bored for a while and quickly find something to entertain themselves with. No one at our house has yet to pull a fun surprise from the jar. I believe they may get desperate enough to feign boredom as their curiosity gets the better of them. Oh well, at least in the meantime we may get some of those chores done we can never quite get to.

This has worked wonders in my home. I just wish that I would of had it a few years ago. I love the name you have given it.
LOVE it! A must to pass on to other mamas! :)
Great idea! My husband (virtually a stay-at -ome dad, with his week-end shift) will love it this summer… Thanks!
That's : stay-at-home dad (sorry!)
I tried your chocolate play dough today and my kids haven't quit smiling. It's been a huge hit and it was so super easy. Thank you, thank you, thank you for taking precious time out of your day to share your amazing ideas.
What a fabulous idea and I love the super cute jar too! Three cheers for moms everywhere!!! ;>
ok, so you are BRILLIANT! If the kids complain about being bored, they get to do chores. I love it! Will remember this for when my kids are a wee bit older
I don't have a jar, but we have always given our kids chores to do also when we hear those words. We have not heard them in years. It is good that they learn how to occupy themselves.
I like how the chores are practical. I have a jar too, but they are just of ideas of fun things to do. I think when my kids announce they're bored, I'll send them to the chore jar like this one. Great idea!!
I really like this idea, my husband has been suggesting chores for the "bored" children in our house and I just needed a great way to get started. Kids love being able to pick things. Thanks for a fantastic idea….Again.
Love this!!!
