Photo Wall–Cut It Out Frames & Giveaway

*Disclosure: This post and giveaway is sponsored by Cut It Out.  However, all opinions and statements are mine and mine alone.

Since we moved in our home over 11 years ago, we have never added any decor to the “game room” or “play room” in our basement.  It was kind of just a catch all room for our junk and items we had no where else to store…and the kids toys.  It was just kind of there.  A room to shut the door to when you had company over.

Photo-wall

Now that my kids are older, they want to have a place to hang out with their friends.  So we decided it was time to finally pay attention that this room and actually put some photos up on the walls.  Since it was our “game room” we decided to hang some photos of our family “playing” together.  I used some photo frames that I got from Cut It Out.

If you have been following me on Instagram, than you might have already seen me share some other rooms in my home where I have also used frames from Cut It Out.  I LOVE these frames.  They come in a lot of different shapes and sizes and the prices can NOT be beat.  The frames are a great way to add some fun decor to your walls while displaying photos of your friends and family.

Photo-wall

The frames come unfinished so that you can paint them the perfect color for your taste and your room decor.  In this room, I went with all of the same frames in the Balboa style in both 8×10′s and 11×14′s.  Then I simply painted them in a white satin paint.  We still have a few more finishing touches to the room but we have made some great progress making this room…well…a room we don’t need to shut the door to.  If you are interested in how we made our DIY Ping Pong Table Top you can see the post here:  DIY Ping Pong Table

Guess who gets to give one of you some of your own Cut It Out Frames?  Me!

One lucky Idea Room reader will be given a $100 Credit to the Cut It Out Shop.  The winner will be able to order their own frames (or other items) with the $100 Credit and the frames will be shipped to them free of charge (in the US only).

Garage Organization & Giveaway

*This is a sponsored post on behalf of Monkey Bar Storage. However all opinions and statements are mine and mine alone.

Last year I shared with you a portion of our Garage that we had organized to help maintain some of the chaos that comes with having a big family.  We organized a section for our kids sports equipment because it seemed to be taking over the garage and our home.  At the end of that post I shared with you a picture of the other half of our garage.  Haha! The disaster portion.  The part where real life was taking over.  A few months later, we were contacted by Monkey Bar Storage Systems, who wanted to help us get the rest of our garage under control.

Garage-Organization

Ummm…Yes Please!

Monkey Bar Storage System came out to our home and measured our garage and then worked with us to set up the best design to help us contain the clutter.  They gave us a 3D rendering and drawing of our plans, and helped us determine the best layout for our needs.

Garage-Organization 8

Here is the before photo that was in our original post….

garage-organization-before

Our garage was our main work area for most of our home remodeling projects, and it was also the dumping zone for items that really didn’t have a specific spot.  Everything needs a “spot” and I was so excited to finally get this space under control…but we had our work cut out for us.

Garage-Organization 19

So, before Monkey Bar Storage could come in and work their magic, we had some serious cleaning out, purging, and organizing to do.  The garage had to be completely empty so that they could do what they needed to do.  We spent all of Memorial Day Weekend cleaning out the garage and the attic.  (You can see the attic in some of the pictures at the top of the ladder…it is on top of the garage).  We also decided to give the garage walls a nice coat of paint so that it would have a nice overall finished look.

Garage-Organization 18

The guys from Monkey Bar came and sanded down the cement floor and then sealed the floor with a gorgeous Epoxy Floor Coating.  We decided on the Dolphin color finish and we are so happy with it!  It looks so amazing and feels so soft and smooth on the bare feet.  It’s beautiful!

Garage-Organization 17

Garage-Organization 16

Then they spent another day installing some beautiful cabinets on the left side of the garage (we already had the cabinets in the middle and on the right).  They also installed some really functional Monkey Bars and a Garage Shelf.  They have these adjustable hooks that make it so easy to customize where and what tools you need to hang from them.  They are so easy to rearrange too if you ever need to change up how you have organized your tools.

Garage-Organization 7

We also had this work table installed which will be the perfect place for my husband and I to work on our projects.  I also love that we are now able to store almost all of our tools out of sight in the drawers and cabinets.  It will make working on projects so much easier now that everything is organized in their specific spots.

Garage-Organization 10

Garage-Organization 14

I feel like we have so much extra room now.

Garage-Organization 9

I have to tell you how impressed I am with Monkey Bar Storage.  Our experience with them went above and beyond our expectations.  They were so easy to work with and went out of their way to make sure our Garage was designed to fit our overall needs.  Their cabinets and monkey bars are built with exceptional quality.  The construction on the cabinets were built to be solid and they firmly anchored them all into place.

Garage-Organization 3

The epoxy flooring is seriously meticulous and is so nice my husband didn’t even want to walk on it with wet shoes because he didn’t want to mess up how pretty it was.  My 6 year old daughter said it was so “comfy on my toes!”

Garage-Organization 4

And…guess what?  I get to give ONE lucky Idea Room Reader a Monkey Bar Garden Tool Rack! ($99.99)

Father’s Day Giveaway with WORX Tools

I  have a fun and different giveaway for you this week just in time for Father’s Day.  I am giving away a couple of great Worx outdoor tools.  Not that only a Father can use them…but the father figure (or your children’s father) in your life might enjoy getting them as a Father’s Day gift.  I will tell you what…this guy (my hubs) was really excited about getting to review them.

Believe it or not, I have been doing the major yard work in our home for years.  Not because I was forced too or because my husband wouldn’t, but I secretly kind of enjoyed it.  I love the exercise that it gave me and the feeling of accomplishment when the yard was all tidy and cleaned up.  But with the birth of my 5th child, I didn’t feel like I could keep up with it…so I turned it over to my husband…who shortly thereafter turned it over to the older boys when they were old enough.

Worx Father's Day giveaway

I gave the WORX 20V 2.0GT Trimmer a test to see how it compared to other trimmers I have used.  This trimmer was VERY light and was so easy to maneuver.  It is also battery powered which makes it so easy to work with and you don’t have to worry about cutting the electrical cord on accident.  The battery lasted 1 and 1/2 times around our yard and it is a good sized yard.  The trimmer line feeds in and out very easily and was easy for me to figure out (which is saying a lot :))!  Even though I could easily use it and don’t mind mowing and trimming the lawn, I am really liking having the boys take over the job!

I get to give one lucky Idea Room Reader their own WORX 20V 2.0GT Trimmer!

In addition, I am also giving away one of these really cool WORX AeroCart!  Pretty exciting right?

So, TWO readers can win.  You can enter both giveaways or just one, but they will both be run separately.

To enter, simply follow the directions in the rafflecopter boxes below.  If you are on a handheld device, you may need to enter on a computer or laptop.  Please be patient as sometimes the widget may take some time to fully load.

WORX 20V 2.0GT Trimmer

WORX tools

The WORX 20-volt GT is a grass trimmer, edger and mini-mower, powered by a 2 amp hour lithium-ion battery. It cuts a 12 inch swath. Telescoping shaft adjusts to match the user’s height. The Trimmer’s head tilts 90 degrees, to trim under decks, shrubs and other obstacles. A twist of the wrist converts the trimmer into a wheeled, walk-behind edger for sidewalks, drives and patios. When in the mini-mower position, it mows at a three-inch height – Ideal for berms, ditches, narrow grass patches and other areas.  ($119.99). It’s available at worx.com, Lowes.com and Amazon.

WORX AeroCart

WORX tools

The new WORX AeroCart is a multi-purpose cart that can be used for dozens of moving projects around the house, yard or workplace. AeroCart’s dual-position wheels handle the work of eight other tools including a wheelbarrow, hand truck/dolly, extended dolly, bag holder, cylinder holder, rock mover, plant mover, and trailer dolly. AeroCart exploits the physics of leverage. As a wheelbarrow, AeroCart’s tub is specially shaped to concentrate the center of gravity directly over the wheels. This creates a perfectly balanced load that can be lifted and moved with ease. In fact, testing results have shown that a 200 lb. load feels more like 17 lbs. Plus, AeroCart’s two wheels improve stability and alleviate side-to-side movement. Unlike a standard wheelbarrow, AeroCart will not tip over. The WORX AeroCart ($159.99) through www.worx.com.

Girls Room Storage & Home Goods Giveaway

*This is a sponsored post on behalf of HomeGoods.  However, all opinions are mine…and who doesn’t love Home Goods?

I am really excited for today’s post you guys!  A few weeks ago I was contacted by HomeGoods and asked if I wanted to offer you guys a giveaway…well…duh! Of course I did! Who doesn’t love HomeGoods?  I was challenged to use some of HomeGoods items to decorate a room in my home as part of their  HomeGoods Organize in Style program.

Home-goods

girls-room-decor

I chose to go with my oldest daughter’s room since we were right in the process of finishing the final touches in her room.  What preteen girl doesn’t need more storage ideas and space in her room?  I had been playing around with the idea of building a window seat bench under her window to give her an area to read or hang out on with friends or by herself, but wasn’t quite sure what I wanted to do.

tufted-headboard-DIY

girls-room-decor

So, after her birthday dinner (my husband and I take the birthday child out to a special dinner with just the three of us) we decided to drop by HomeGoods and have a look around.  It was if the heavens parted…the perfect tufted storage bench was just sitting there…begging to go home with us.  It was a perfect fit for her window and the space.  And?  It was the perfect shade of gray!  It was meant to be!

yellow-decor

The storage bench is the perfect spot for her to store her clothes that are out of season to free up some of her closet space, which in turn allows her to keep her clutter shut away and hidden in the closet.  I also am in love with the nail head trim along the bottom of the bench.

girls-room

I was also able to pick up some fun storage items for the top of her dresser.  She loves to journal and so we picked up this blue wire basket for her to hold her colorful journal collection in along with her favorite childhood stuffed animals.  I love the color and texture it adds to the overall look of her room.

home-goods

These items were just the perfect finishing touches…which is always the part of decorating I struggle with the most!  What about you?  Do you need some fun storage and organization solutions for a room or multiple rooms in your house?

girls-room

Well…of course you do.  Good thing I get to give FIVE lucky Idea Room Readers a $50 Gift Card to HomeGoods.  Pretty exciting right?!  If you would like to enter for a chance to win one of the gift cards, simply follow the instructions in the Rafflecopter box below.  Please be patient as it may take the widget a few seconds to load fully.  You may need to enter on a laptop or desktop computer.

Recipe Book & a Giveaway

Mother’s Day is upon us…but have no fear…I have a great gift idea for the mother’s and women in your life!  If you are like me, you have a lot of loose recipes in the form of magazine pages, printed recipes from the internet and handwritten recipe cards shoved into a makeshift recipe book.  Wanting to organize my recipes in a pretty fashion, I decided to design a very versatile, functional…but equally CUTE Recipe Book.

recipe-book 7

I made some recipe index pages and placed them in a 3 ring binder.  Each page and recipe can be slipped into a plastic sleeve which allows you to fit any size of recipe, in any form that you may have.  These allow you to keep the recipes organized and in the proper order.  And, if you are a messy baker like I am…the plastic sleeves can easily be wiped down with a damp cloth to clean off any spills or spots.

recipe-book 2_edited-1

I love this organization system and think that it would make the perfect gift for any woman…or man for that matter.  I plan to make one for each of my children and add their favorite family recipes in them so they can take them with them when they move out and begin their own lives…which is coming way too fast for me!  Seriously…in two years…my oldest will be moving out…and I can’t even stand to think about it.

And, of course, I will share these recipe book printable pages with you.  I also plan to start sharing some of our regular everyday family favorite recipes with you so that you can start filling up your recipe books too.  This is a great way for me to get motivated to make family dinners and update our family recipe book and recipes.

recipe-book 3

Tomorrow I will share the printable index pages and the front cover so that you can get the recipe book started and give it as a gift to your favorite Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, or friend…or make one for yourself!

Herb Box and Gro-ables Seed Pod Giveaway

Ever since my food allergy diagnosis, I have been wanting to plant a small herb garden that I could use.  Living in Utah, we don’t have a very long growing season so I wanted to be able to grow some herbs in my house.  So what is a girl supposed to do?  Well, she builds one to fit in her kitchen window sill.

herb-box 9

When we remodeled the kitchen two years ago, we made sure to put a window sill in the kitchen window so that I would be able to put some plants in the kitchen.  And I am so excited to have finally tackled this project.  (Please excuse the dirty kitchen photo…this was at Christmas time during some Christmas baking! I couldn’t find the other photo I had taken!)

kitchen 1

So I set out and built this simple Herb Box to hold and grow our indoor herb garden in.  I measured the box to fit our window sill and added some compartments in the herb box for each herb to grow in.

herb-box

The herb box measures 30 inches in length by 5 inches in width.  We made sure that we could fit our clay pots inside the individual compartments and then cut our wood board accordingly.  Then we simply glued them together with some wood glue and added some nails to hold the wood securely in place with a nail gun.  For the base we just used a piece of scrap wood.

herb-box 6

herb-box 4

herb-box 2

I wanted to use clay pots for the herbs to be planted in because I did not want to worry about finding a way for the water to drain out of the bottom of the box on my windowsill.  The clay pots have a water basin that they sit on to collect any excess water.

herb-box 1

This girl LOVES when we make something with wood because it means she can dig through our wood scrap pile and come up with her own creations.  This is a play ground for her Little Pet Shop toys.  I think she did a great job, don’t you?

herb-box 5

For the herbs I used these perfect Gro-ables Seed Pods.  Each little pod comes with everything you need to grow your own food.  Be sure to check back in later when I share the finished herb box in my kitchen window sill!  I LOVE how it turned out!

Each ready-to-plant Seed Pod® contains:

  • Specially selected non-GMO seed at just the right depth
  • Growing materials to protect the seed and keep it moist
  • Plant food to help it grow and build strong roots

herb-box 8

Gro-ables are so easy to use…seriously…growing plants could not be easier and they come in 17 different varieties.   Today I get to give one of my Idea Room readers a fun Gro-ables Prize Pack.  The Gro-ables Prize Pack includes: a steel watering can, Gro-ables Seed Pods, Decorative Plant Labels, and some gardening gloves.
