How was your Valentine’s Day? We had a busy, but good one. Here are a few images from our day. We had our big Valentine’s candlelight dinner on Sunday so we could sit and eat at a leisurely pace. Then we played some games as a family.
Then on the actual holiday we gobbled up some heart shaped pancakes FOR DINNER! Our morning was a little too hectic and this momma decided to sleep in :)! Earlier in the week we decorated some sugar cookies and shared them with our friends. Then we enjoyed THIS…Brownie Trifle! Yum!
Super easy and delicious. Just brownies, whipped cream, white chocolate pudding, and fresh strawberries {raspberries would be good too}!
The girls were given some flowers by their first true love…isn’t he so sweet? Love him! And I got some brownies from my FAVORITE local bakery…I may or may not have hidden them!

P.S. Remember when my daughter split her forehead open and I blogged about it here? Well it has been 5 months now and it is looking so much better. We have been diligent about putting sun screen and Mederma on her scar. If she is going to be outside at all we slap a band-aid on it! In fact if you look closely you can see that she has a band-aid tan. I know many of you were kind enough to comment and lend your support and expertise when it happened so I thought I would share with you how it looks now! I think it is still fading and will be barely noticeable the older she gets!

I was in a car accident and got a huge laceration across my forehead. The best thing I found to help with the scar has been Strivectin-SD. Its pricey, but you can usually get samples at Sephora. So worth it!! http://www.strivectin.com/sd.html
that trifle looks AMAZINGLY good and I find myself craving something sweet now at a quarter to midnight!!!!
I love that Daddy gave the girls flowers. Very beautiful. It's precious for girls to grow up being cherished by their fathers, your girls are blessed indeed.
If you massage the scar across, not up and down, it will help the new tissue lie down flat and help lessen the scar.
I'd like some of that trifle! Any leftovers? :)
Oooh, the brownie trifle. Yum!
Your daughter's scar looks great! Nice work, Mom!
My daughter split her forehead in a similar spot to your daughter's, it has been 4 years since she did it and I don't think that people even notice it! My husband still beats himself up over not insisting on a plastic surgeon to stitch it up:) It bothers him more than it does her–there is hope!
my 5 year old hit a brick hearth with her head last year—she had 9 stitches and now has an awesome horizontal scar through her eyebrow to the center of her forehead. it's a quick reminder to her not to run inside! :) my husband gives her a rose once a month…he's a police officer that works w the community and at a mtg once a month they give flowers to the women there. they always make him take one home to her. :) he also gave her flowers for v-day, too. he'll be deploying soon, so he tries to look for those special moments to share w the kids.
About 14 years ago I got almost an identical cut on my forehead – same size, same place. And you can't even see it at all now. I mean, I guess you can if you looked and I told you what to look for, but really, it is in all practicality invisible. So no worries! Funny story – I was dating my husband at the time – but not exclusively – and the cut happened when I was on a date with another guy – my husband wanted to clobber him!!!
Looks like you had a fun day! Bio-Oil works great, too. You can get it at the drugstore; Walgreens, Rite-Aid, and it seems to be reasonably priced. I've used it before and it's done a great job. A friend of mine used it while pregnant and didn't get any stretch marks!
perfect pink heart pancakes…brownie trifle…flowers from daddy-o…doesn't get much sweeter than that :) Happy Valentine's [yesterday] Amy!
And your daughters scar is barely noticable! you're taking good care of it for sure :)
wow yummy treats! I can't believe how well her scar is healing…looks great :) what a sweet daddy to give his girls flowers!! xoxo
I just wanted you to know that if you just buy a bottle of vitamin E (capsules), you can just open it up and put it on scars. It is the same as using Mederma(which is mostly Vit. E anyways) and way cheaper!
I'm a little late…but…my Valentine's Day was pretty good. My husband & I went to a 'new to us' restaurant for lunch. I really enjoy going out to breakfast, brunch or lunch to dinner.
Then cooked dinner for he, my son and me. Then watched a movie. Sounds rather boring when I see it in writing!
Thanks everyone for sharing and for the great advice on the scar care.
