I just finished putting up almost all the Christmas Decorations this year. It is always one of my favorite times of the year and I love to switch things up from year to year. This year I wanted to change up our Fireplace Mantle in our Living Room and because I am obsessed with lighted signs (you might remember this Believe Sign or this Lighted Initial Sign), I created a Christmas Sign and printed it at Office Depot.
I loved the idea of displaying a simple saying that would help remind us of the true meaning of the Christmas Season. This room is the first room that you see when you come to my front door so it seemed like a fitting place to put it. You can make one too, and you won’t believe how easy it can be.
I simply designed a 16 x 20 image in my photoshop program. Then had my local Office Depot print it as a poster. So easy! When I got it home, I cut out a piece of cardboard so that it was also 16 x 20. I glued the poster onto the cardboard with some Rubber Cement. Then I took a screwdriver (high tech here people) and punched holes through the cardboard, where the dots are.
I took a string of battery powered lights and put one in each hole so that they were just barely protruding out of the hole on the front of the poster. Tape down the string on the other side so that the lights will stay in place and not slide out.
I was sure to place the battery pack on the bottom of the sign so that I can easily reach it to turn them on and off. Place the poster into your picture frame and then hang or set the picture on your mantle, shelf or wall.
I LOVE how it turned out. It is now one of the main focal points in the room…other than the Christmas Tree, and was pretty simple and inexpensive to create. I LOVE those kind of projects, don’t you? And, you can recreate this at your house too. Simply download the free Christmas Sign Poster and have it printed at your local Office Depot or OfficeMax.
