Back in August I had the opportunity to head out to Dallas, TX and spent some time with some of the amazing people that work with Michaels. They are so creative and so much fun and we had a good time creating together. While there we were able to participate in the Michaels Leadership Conference and Holiday Show. We also met the CEO of the Craft & Hobby Association, Andrej Suskavcevic, who shared with us an amazing campaign called CRE8TIME.
CRE8TIME is a movement, a movement supported by a group of people who want to make a positive social change. As our lives become increasingly crowded with “responsibilities,” we tend to ignore ourselves and find it difficult to justify creative pursuits; they seem “selfish” and are often the first things we discard. It’s time to reclaim our creativity! CRE8TIME is a movement, a movement supported by a group of people who want to make a positive social change. It is designed to help people recover eight hours a month and devote it to their particular craft, and to create a place for them to share their experiences – the joys, lessons, and results – with the creative community at large. Learn more about CRE8TIME in this video.
Now, I tend to spend a lot of my time creating, so finding myself creating for an hour a day is not unusual. It helps that I am a creative blogger by trade. But what about you? Do you find time to create in your lives? I know that most of you LOVE to create, which is why you may find yourself here…on my site. How does being creative make you feel? For me, creativity is a way to unwind and relax. A way for me to connect with who I am outside of all of the other roles I find myself in.
As part of the CRE8TIME project and my partnership with Michael’s, I came up with a project that I would like to be able to share with you. And, if you are interested, hopefully this project will help you to be able to find some time to add some creativity to your life if you are not already doing so. Tomorrow I will share with you the printable pattern, photo tutorial, and the cookie recipe I used so that you can make some too.
What is your favorite way to spend some time creating? How does being creative make you feel or enrich your life? I would love to know!

Super cute! And I love your chippy photo background too :) It’s easier for me to take care of the things I *need* to do when I make sure there’s bits of time to do what I *want* to do.

What a wonder project. It’s important that we feed our creative energy. I know I’m a lot happier when I do :-) I enjoy making jewelry and handcrafting greeting cards. I spend a lot of time writing about travel and to recharge I find I need some time each week to be create something with my hands. I like the idea of the CRE8TIME project. Best of luck to everyone!

What a great project. I love making things and when I do, I feel accomplished. I love to do creative memories, card making and lots of DIY projects. Crafting is a freedom to me. It helps me be a better wife and mom because I can let go and just do something for myself even if I am making a gift for someome else or creating a card. I love it when people come over and ask where I got something and I say that I made it. It shocks them! But I love to tell them how easy it is and they too can make one. So much fun being crafty!!
