Hey, friends! It’s Kristi here from I Should Be Mopping the Floor, a printables and projects blog. I’m delighted to be here with you today sharing this fun back-to-school craft. I’ve been a follower of The Idea Room for a long time…what an honor to get to hang out over here today. Thank you so much for the invite, Amy!
The No. 2 Pencil Vase started with a clean, gallon-sized tin can.
Be sure to remove any paper or residue from the outside.
I used my favorite chalk-style paint for this (this chalk paint will readily adhere to most surfaces…including aluminum cans). I didn’t have the perfect eraser color, so I mixed some of the Ballet Slipper Pink with the Crimson Red.
Then I just brushed on my two colors of paint for the pencil.
This is perfect to fill with flowers for your teacher on the first day of school.
It’s great to store No. 2 Pencils in later on (of course!).
I used this in my Back-to-School Waffle Bar here.
It looks cute paired up with my vintage flashcards and Hardy Boy books, too.
These flash cards are free printables on my blog here, too.
Hope you all have a lovely back-to-school season!
Thank you again for having me over today, Amy!

Natalie- It really is so fun to make!
Love this! I guess since school is at home for now, I need this in our classroom..lol!!
Kristyn- Are you kids not going back? If so, I guess you will need one of these at home!
What did you do to the edges of the can so they weren’t sharp? Such a cute idea – thanks for sharing!
Patty- I used a special can opener. You can also sand the edges too.
