The whole family will love this homemade, creamy hot chocolate recipe using unsweetened cocoa, white sugar, & milk. Perfect hot chocolate recipe for a cold day.
HOT CHOCOLATE
It’s that time of year again at our house…time to pull out the winter coats, sweaters and our favorite Hot Chocolate Recipe. My kids love this recipe after a long day up in the mountains skiing or after an afternoon of playing in the snow or sledding in the back yard. It is so easy to make and can be made on the stove top or in your Instant Pot!
HOT COCOA
I have found that it is a little bit faster to make in the Instant Pot than it is on the Stove Top. We like a little bit of cinnamon in our Hot Chocolate so that is included in this recipe. You can leave the cinnamon out if that isn’t your style!
We love to top ours with marshmallows or whipping cream. If you want it a little less creamy, you can add skim milk or more of it. Add some crushed peppermint or peppermint sticks if you want a little bit of peppermint goodness.

HOT CHOCOLATE BAR
Sometimes if I am feeling fancy, I pull out some fun toppings to throw in the Hot Chocolate as part of a Hot Chocolate Bar. No matter how you serve it, it is always creamy and delicious!

Did you actually pressure cook this or just use the IP to boil it? The video doesn’t show and the recipe is for stove top. Thanks.
Deb- Yes, just use it to boil and keep warm. Thanks.
This is very confusing. I thought it was going to be a hot cocoa recipe for the Instant Pot, not the stovetop.
You can make it in the instapot just like on the stovetop.
Why did I never think of using the instant pot- GENIUS! It’s perfect weather for this too!
Thanks Becca! It is getting cold here too!
oh my!! Looks so yummy!
Thanks Heather!
I had made hot chocolate in my slow cooker so many times, but I hadn’t tried it in the instant pot. So easy and so creamy!
Fiona- So happy you gave it a try. It is delicious!
Hot chocolate is a favorite at our house, but I don’t make it from scratch very often. I’ll have to give your recipe a try!
Kara- You really should. Its delicious.
Hi Amy, about how many does this serve?
Madison- About 5-6 cups.
