Before we know it, it is going to be Mother’s Day. Do you know what you are getting for the special Mom’s and Women in your life? I have a couple ideas brewing for the Mom’s in my life…and of course I am planning on sharing here.
Along with a nice gift, I usually like to give a written note in the form of a Mother’s Day Card, which I can express in the written word exactly why I appreciate my Mom and my Mother-In-Law. I think it is important to express how and why we feel the way we do about a person, instead of just assuming that person knows how we feel. You never know what tomorrow will bring.
Just a couple of months ago my mom suffered a pretty serious stroke. She lost physical control of the right side of her body and was taken to the hospital via an ambulance. Her doctors kept her overnight in the hospital for some testing and to wait on her test results before sending her home.
It was quite the shock for me and my family members. if you have had similar experiences, you know what I mean. One day everything is going along like normal and then suddenly everything is different. Luckily my mom has almost made a full recovery, but there is always going to be that worry in the back of our minds. We are so blessed and she is getting good medical care now to try and prevent another stroke from occurring.
My mom is such an amazing woman. I attribute most of my good qualities to her and my dad…and possibly a few of my not so loveable traits too ;)! She is one of the most loving and selfless women I know. She lives her life with Faith and Hope and continues to be an amazing example of courage and happiness to my family and I.
Her recent health scare has been a big reminder to me about the importance of letting our friends and family members know just how much we care about and love them. Don’t wait another day to tell someone how much you care about them. Even if you are estranged from them…reach out to them and tell them.
I was excited to be able to team up with the Cardstore this Mother’s Day and I was able to make a fun and personalized card for my Mom.
It was so easy and is a lot more personal than just picking out a card at the drug store. I was able to add photos and have the card say exactly what I wanted it to say for my Mom. You can even use your personal signature. This way you can totally personalize it to an individual loved one. Cardstore can print, stamp and send your card via US postal service for you. How convenient is that?
Don’t you just love the vintage pictures of my cute Momma? Such a fun keepsake.
And guess what? I have a special promo code just for my Idea Room readers. You can not get this deal online.

Such a scare with your Mom, Amy!! These days I’m making sure that I tell people how much I love them because you never know what can happen. :(

I know you do Mique! Good luck at QBM!
Scary about your mom! I’m glad she is okay. Thanks for the info about Cardstore. I will check them out.
Thanks so much Amy! I know you understand too! Thanks so much!
Oh my gosh Amy I had no idea you mom had a stroke. She is darling, i’m so glad she is getting better!
We had a friend pass recently that was unexpected, and since that day, i’ve made sure to reach out to those I love and let them know i’m thinking of them and how much I care for them, because you are so right, you just never know what tomorrow will bring!
Love you my friend!
I am so sorry about your friend. Life for sure can change in an instant! Love you too!
Glad I’ve finally found something I agree with!
Okay I’m convinced. Let’s put it to action.
The ability to think like that shows you’re an expert
As my mom is getting older I am constantly aware of how we don’t have tons of time left. Just this past month I was convicted about how little I make time for her. So now we instituted a bi-monthly lunch date with the two of us. I know we both look forward to it so much because we take for each other. Thanks for the promo code I am going to make cards for both my mom and my MIL.
Such a great idea to have a lunch date with your mom. And a great way to stay connected when you have different lives at this stage. xo
This is such a touching post. I am so glad your Mom is okay and around to appreciate. I love the idea of writing your thoughts down and sharing them while there is still time.
Thanks Cindy. It was so great to see you this weekend!
Oh Amy, you spoke to my heart! Thank you so much for the reminder to live in the moment and appreciate our loved ones. You’re amazing just like your Mom! It’s so hard to think they won’t be around forever. I’m glad she has recovered and is doing better.

I love this idea! What a sweet story about your mom, how scary about her stroke–glad she is doing ok now.
Thanks Kristen! I appreciate you taking the time to share that with me. xo
Thank you so much for the reminder to reach out to our loved ones and to tell them always that we love them. I think sometimes we take family for granted, but I want mine to know how much I care for them. What a scary thing to go through with your mom…I am so glad to hear she is doing good now.
amy, you are so right about being with the ones you love & trying not to take for granted the time we have together! my parents are getting older & any physical thing is always a little more serious with older people. so scary!
