Let me preface this post by stating the obvious…I am NOT a scrapbooker! I wish I was…but alas, I just don’t have any talent in this area…at all! It’s sad really! My pictures are all sitting in a big box or on my computer!
I have tried, but I tend to spend hours on one page trying to get everything just right and then for some reason I never feel happy with what I have done…which is just too much pressure for me! Can anyone else relate??
My recipe book is falling apart and I have been wanting to get rid of it for a cleaner, nicer version. So when I came across Becky Higgins recipe scrapbook, I knew it was what I needed to do for my recipes. It is so simple, even I could do it.
I just do a few recipes at a time and am planning to change out the recipes as I make them throughout the year. This will also encourage me to rotate through our recipes to give us some variety and ensure I get a picture of each item. I just take a picture and then save it and the recipe into a folder and print them out a few at a time to add to the scrapbook.
I have already been able to scrap a few recipes and have been really happy with what I have so far. Plus, the pages are easy to clean if you tend to get a bit messy when you cook or bake…*ahem*!
I think this would make a fun gift for family members with some of your family recipes or for college students and newlyweds!

I love this idea, I think this is what I'm going to do with my recipes.
Did you use one of the mini binders or a regular letter sized one?
This is a great idea – to take a picture of them. I keep a binder of the recipes that my family enjoys with the plans of one day making books for each of my children as they marry. These would make very cute heirlooms.
I wanted to take pictures but gave up – you make me want to try again. I also stuck in pocket folders for recipes that I want to make but I'm not sure they'll make the cut into the book – I posted mine here: http://craftedition.blogspot.com/2009/10/personal-recipe-book.html
What a great idea? Care to share your favourite recipes? I'm in a rut :)
Fantastic idea!! My recipe papers/index cards, ect, are getting out of control. LOL! I NEED to do something like this ASAP! Thank you for sharing this idea. :)
Great idea!
Since the kiddo is in school, I am literally organizing my digital recipes/magazine tear outs etc. to create a recipe book right now. I have a blog obsession issue, clicked on your feed and well, this is your post. I have my binder ready and now I have a much more creative way to do this now. Thanks! tami
This is exactly what I do too! I also post them online so it is always easy to access them when I am out, and easy to pass on the recipes to friends when they ask. I keep another binder for recipes I want to try sometime too. It is hard to stay caught up with it all, but so rewarding when I do update it.
so cool! My girls and I have been talking about making something like this so they can have a book of the recipes they loved growing up!
I love it! I want it! I'm going to make it! Really, I do, and I also want to say that I can totally relate with the non-scrapbooking. The hours of time and then not liking it. I just can't figure it out. But I can figure out a chop saw. Go figure.
I LOVE how you've done it! Thanks for the great idea and passing it on.
Sounds like the perfect solution, to a big problem. Plus I like that we have our own picture of the meal there. Great idea!!! If you have a minute, I would love for you to share this idea, or any other project with my readers, at my new party, he he,,, thanks in advance!!!
yeah. that sounds like a GREAT idea! SO, when can we expect our own copies of your beautiful recipe pages?!?! LOL!!! :P

I love this idea! thanks for sharing!
I've actually been doing this for years. I saw something on an early Martha Stewart show and have been doing it since. My poor binder tho probably needs to be replaced! It is 10 years old.
I also do this with things I like and crafty ideas I find in magazines.
Great job Amy! I think I can manage that too. ;)
I am with ya on the scrapbooking talent, or the lack thereof. This is a great idea. Love the idea of taking pictures of all the food I make. Thanks for sharing… like always.
Looks great.
You could be also be really neurotic and LAMINATE them and then punch the holes, instead of putting them in sleeves.
I've been wanting to do something like this so I don't have loads of cookbooks with just a few recipes I like out of each one. I love the idea of taking pictures too!
I really really really need to do this!! i have a handwritten cookbook that i've been writting my favorite recipes in for about 5 years and it is starting to fall apart!
I have a binder with my scrapbooked recipes. My rule is I have to make it at least 3 times before I call it a keeper. Also, a time saving trick is to search for the recipe online and copy and past it into word- change it a bit as needed and use a cute font before printing it out to put in the book.
And I put them on my (sad little) blog so I can access them when not at home or share with friends easily.
perfect timing on this idea! My sister's birthday is at the end of the month and this will be perfect as she's going off to college in January.
Could you post your chicken soup
recipe? I can get most of it but I can't tell what the bottom part of the picture says, lol.
Thanks!
Amy, My daughter just got married and has asked me to put our favorite recipies together and I thought os scrapbooking. Howver, I have been searching for materials including digital programs and your idea beat them all.
Please confirm that you are using a regular letter size paper and sheet protector. Thanks
Did you use a digital program for this project? If so please let me know which one. Thanks
i started one of these for my daughter that is getting married as a wedding gift , that has all the family heirloom recipes and recipes from both sides of the family and 100 year old recipes and all the new ones that i have created. Now there is some many people wanting one. Its so easy.
