*This post is in collaboration with Cricut. I am honored to be working with a company that I truly love! I was given a Cricut Maker machine to give an honest and unbiased review. All opinions are mine and mine alone.
Looking for a cutting machine and not sure which one to buy and why? I’m sharing all about the Cricut Maker Machine its features and capabilities while comparing it to other Cricut Machines. It has every thing you are looking for and more.
CRICUT MACHINE
CRICUT MAKER
As you know, I have been partnering with Cricut for a few years now! I just love their cutting machines! So I was super excited to have been invited share a Cricut Maker Review with you! Have you heard about it yet? Well, today I am going to share with you what the Cricut Maker can do. I hope this will be helpful for you in trying to decide what cutting machine is best for your creative needs.
As part of the review, I was invited to attend Cricut’s release and announcement of the new machine. I shared the live streaming video of that with my followers on Facebook. If you missed that and want to see it, you can find it here.
CRICUT MAKER MACHINE
The first thing I noticed about the Cricut Maker is just how pretty and sleek it is! I love the slight changes they made from their past model the Cricut Air 2. They are slight…but for someone who loves simple clean lines and the color white…the Cricut Maker definitely scored some points in that area for me! Check out the Cricut Maker in the video below.
CRICUT MAKER CUTS WITH 4KG OF PRESSURE
Probably the most notable way that the Cricut Maker improves on the Explore family of machines is the fact that it can now cut with 4kg of force. That is 10 times more cutting power than the Cricut Air.
That’s ten times the power of their past machines which now allows the Cricut Maker to cut a very impressive range of materials. And depending on the tool you are using and the material you are cutting, the machine has built in intelligent variable pressure, to allow for the tool to cut with speed and precision.
CRICUT MAKER ADAPTIVE TOOL SYSTEM
The Adaptive Tool System is another impressive addition to this new cutting machine, and why you won’t need to keep buying new machines once you’ve got it.
Essentially it guarantees to fit with all the currently available Cricut tools, but that it will be compatible with any and all future tools that may be released! No need to upgrade your machine once again as new technology is released. That is a win in my book!
Before we talk about some of the bigger tools the new Cricut Maker has, lets talk about some of the smaller changes/additions to the overall machine. Earlier I mentioned the sleeker design. The dial has been removed which was nice so that the machine could have a streamlined diamond-polished champagne aluminum lid!
A helpful docking slot holds your tablet or smartphone. And the convenient USB port lets you charge your device in a flash. I love this! Great for ease and convenience when working on your projects!
There is a storage drawer that is now a little bit deeper to allow more tool storage and not one…but two tool cups on the machine. One is deeper for your taller tools. The bottoms of the cups are now lined with rubber, so you won’t dull your blades or the tips when they are dropped into the cup.
CRICUT MAKER BLADES
CRICUT MAKER ROTARY BLADE
The brand new Cricut Maker Rotary Blade has been designed to cut through virtually any fabric. I have had a chance to play with the Cricut Maker on a few different occasions now (including a couple projects I will be sharing here soon) and I have to say the Cricut Maker does an AMAZING job cutting fabric! It has made me a little giddy with excitement and the creative possibilities that it opens up for those who love home decor, sewing and quilting!
The rotary blade is equipped with a gliding and rolling action that makes cutting fabric as easy as cutting through butter, and allows you complete control over — regardless of what direction it’s going in.
In fact, it has been proven to cut anything from the lightest silk and chiffon to thick denim and canvas. No more hand cutting! This is EXCITING! Imagine the time you can save and the precision you can cut your quilting blocks and sewing patterns with!
CRICUT MAKER KNIFE BLADE
The knife blade is also one of the additions that I am super excited about!
Essentially, it’s like an X-acto knife within the machine. X-acto blades are a great tool, but imagine having a machine do all the cutting work for you…in a much safer and precise way!
And the knife blade promises to slice through materials up to a whopping 2.4 mm thick. How awesome is that? Imagine the possibilities!
The knife blade is set to come out in Spring 2018 and will be an additional cost item.
CRICUT FABRIC CUTTER
CRICUT PATTERNS
And…if all of the above haven’t been exciting enough…Cricut has added hundreds of CRICUT MAKER Sewing Patterns for you to choose from within their Design Space software. The patterns are already set up and ready to go and the Cricut Maker will cut the pattern for you with complete accuracy and efficiency. Cricut also released a washable fabric pen so that your pattern markers are also marked with precision! Say what?! Sewing may become one of my new favorite hobbies!
SIMPLICITY SEWING PATTERNS
Cricut has partnered with Simplicity and Riley Blake Designs to enhance the library by bringing their own creations and patterns into Design Space that will be available for using with the Cricut Maker and pre-programmed for you! The patterns will range in price from $2.99 to $9.99!
Are you as impressed as I am? For the price, there is no comparison with some of the other commercial cutting machines with the same cutting force! The Cricut Maker is quite an upgrade from the other Cricut Machines.

Donna De Graw says
I would love to win this new Cricut. Now the reason. I had a old Cricut Create and it finally died and I can’t afford to buy one. My husband is terminally ill. Since 1984 he has worked he got hit in the head with a 8 foot 8 inch log that came down a conver belt. It hit him and knocked him 40 feet away. Because of that he had two neck surgeries. Then starting in 1992 he had his first open heart surgery. He went on to have 4more of them. I used my Cricut to make this to sell so we could pay for his meds. I could use this new Cricut to make Quilts to sell. So please pick me.
