We recently re-organized our food pantry in our kitchen. It needed it! It was a disaster! I didn’t take a before picture…gahhh! But believe me…it was pretty BAD!
We emptied out the entire pantry and piled the food in the dining room.
Yikes! Pretty scary!
I took a lot of the stuff we don’t use often down to our food storage room downstairs and just kept the frequently used items upstairs. So far it has worked out really well.
Then we wiped all the walls and shelves clean. We wanted to paint the pantry since it was one of the last areas in our home that we had NOT painted when we moved in. So who knows how long it has been since it had a nice fresh coat of paint on it.
We also found some awesome bead board wallpaper from Lowes. I swore I would never put up wallpaper in our home after removing 2-3 layers of wallpaper from almost every single room in this home! But this wallpaper is so subtle, fresh and clean looking. And it was a snap to put up.
And…the best part? You can paint it! So we painted over it with a nice, fresh coat of white paint. It is hard to see in the pictures, but it really finished the inside of the pantry off.
After the newly painted shelves were dry, we hung them back up. Then I ordered some adorable vinyl labels from Shelley {House of Smith’s} vinyl company…Wonderfully Wordy! Aren’t they so cute and fun? I LOVE them! I could have made them myself…but sometimes it is worth it to have someone else do it when they are exactly what you are looking for :)! She customized them to the sizes and wording that I needed.
Then we decided to get some new folding doors. The other ones were really beat up. Considering the fact that this home is 30+ years old…it was time for an upgrade. I love how the white doors really brightened up the kitchen. I didn’t think it would make that big of a difference…but it did.
I love how clean and organized it is! And it has been about 2 months since we re-organized it and I have to say…it has stayed pretty clean, probably because I don’t let the kids near it. Wahoo! Gotta love that! Have you conquered a BIG organization project lately?

Love the change! Ummm ~ my entire house is under a massive organizational order right now.
This is such a great job! I love the wallpaper and thought about using it too.
Your newly organized pantry looks fabulous. The wallpaper is a clever idea and really adds a nice bit of style!
Fabulous! I have a large pantry but the shelving is all wrong. I am inspired to get to fixing it now!
I cleaned out my pantry a year ago… bit mess everywhere! I just cleaned it a few weeks ago. I had hardly any cleaning to do! I did find I needed a container for my beans and dried fruit… they never stayed in a neat pile. Other than that it has been clean all year!!!!
BTW… I love the verse or quote on your wall above your closet! Can I ask where you got it?
Great job! Love the labels! The beadboard wallpaper makes such a difference! Thanks for sharing.
Fabulous! I'm sure it makes all the difference in the world to have your pantry organized like that. Where did you get all those containers? I've been looking around but many I like are glass.
it looks awesome!
just cleaned mine out this weekend as a matter of fact! i wanted to add so many cute little elements to it, and maybe when summer hits i will, but for now, it is clean.
i did get a picture of the before, it looked like i should be on the show hoarders for real!

very cool! love the beadboard wallpaper.
Oh, yay! I JUST bought that same wallpaper this weekend and was planning on putting it in my 1/2 bath, but I've been too chicken to even open it.
Would you recommend it for a 1/2 bath? Or do you think it looks too fake? It looks great there in the closet, but people really aren't going to be too up close and personal with it, right? Help! Opinion, please!
Aloha,
charlie
It looks great. I love the labels and the beadboard wallpaper is a great idea. I'm hosting We're Organized Wednesday this week and would love for you to join the party if you get a chance.

A clean and organized pantry makes my heart sing. You did a great job!
Oh, how inspiring! My pantry is a royal MESS and needs major help. Please share where you got those FABULOUS handles containers!!! I have searched high and low for something similar, to no avail!
Thanks for this great nudge. I am going right this second to clean off a shelf!!!
Great job! Love the beadboard.
I re-did mine about six months ago (photos on my blog if you want to see a REAL mess!). It was quite literally falling apart under the weight of everything I'd stuffed in there! Anyway, your post reminded me that it's time for a little semi-annual maintenance in there.
Ooh la la! Love it!
Great job! Thanks for the reminder, too, that my pantry needs some serious work.

Love it! What an inspiration! Yikes- I do NOT want to go look in my pantry now….
It looks incredible!! I love it. Mine has stayed pretty organized since I re-did it too. The boys actually like keeping it in order.
Thanks for the inspiration!
I too took on my pantry…not as big of a makeover as yours…but you can check out the finished project…it just needed to be reorganized after the "Christmas Baking". http://alwaysjustamom.blogspot.com/2011/01/januaryorganization.html
We also took on our garage…installed new shelves and now I have beautiful blue bins!!!http://alwaysjustamom.blogspot.com/2011/01/updates-and-pictures.html
I want to know where you got your containers too! I've seen some but they can get quite pricey.
It turned out so nice!! I like the wallpaper! :)
Looks great! I love a well organized pantry. :)
I agree with you about wallpaper but I am going to have to try the beadboard! Love the new look!

Thanks everyone for your sweet comments!
I love the wallpaper bead board, but with that being said, I would not put it on a wall in a room. It worked great in the pantry because you don't get a close-up view. I would love to add it to some other closets like the Master bedroom closet too {shhh…don't tell the hubs :) yet}. But I think the perfectionist in me would not like it on a wall out in the open. I would prefer the real bead board or faux wainscotting.
But that is just my opinion!
And for those of you who asked about the containers…I found them at Wal Mart. They are not too expensive and I LOVE them!! Got rid of all the cereal bags and boxes, etc.
The quote on the wall is from our LDS Scriptures in the Doctrine and Covenants section 88 verse 119.

Looks great! Where did you get the containers for your cereal?
Sorry I didn't read all the comments before posting mine. Looks like i'm heading off to Walmart to do a little shopping. Thanks
The pantry looks great, so clean and fresh! I need to repaint mine, but now I'm thinking wallpaper. Seems it would be easier to keep clean. I also have my old doors on and now feel the incentive to go get some fresh white ones to update the area. Thanks for the inspiration.
I'm tackling little organization projects on my way to big ones. I just reorganized our pantry too – and "fixed" our doors.

nice work!! you're an inspiration :) I started on our pantry a couple weeks ago and it got put on the back burner…but it's on the list for tomorrow!
Looks Great! Where did you get all your containers with the handles?
Wow! Great Pantry! Where did you get your great labels? I love them!
Found you at the link up party We're Organized Wed.
Have a great day!
Good job! I so need to organize my pantry. I did start putting my grains in big glass jars. It's a start!

Wow, this looks so wonderful. I never thought of putting wallpaper in the pantry, but it's such a good idea. Those labels are my favorite part though, so cute. Thanks for the inspiration! :)

Thanks for linking to We're Organized Wednesday. The pantry looks awesome and organized.
I'm disappointed that you didn't take a "before" pix! ;-)
Great pantry! We’re buying a house and the pantry needs new paint on the shelves. Did you sand down the shelves first? And did you use semi-gloss or gloss? And some places say the paint needs to cure 30 days so the cans, etc. don’t stick to the paint…what was your experience with this?
Thanks!
WOW! I need to organize my pantry so I took everything out and piled it on the island. I decided to see if I could get any ideas and when I saw all your stuff piled up, it looks just like mine now! Lol. Thanks for the inspiration. Here I go….
Ha! Good Luck! It will get better! Happy organizing!
