If you have been following along with me for a while, you know how important family is to me. Family is the core of my everyday life. Research has shown that strong families become the building blocks of society. Families become strong when each individual feels a sense of belonging and a sense of purpose within the family unit. The sharing of family stories within individual families provides the members a sense of identity through time, and help children understand who they are in the world.
The recent passing of my Dad (the young boy in the picture below) this past June, solidified the importance of sharing and recording my family stories. You always think you are going to have more time to capture moments and personal stories from your family members…until you don’t.
In the last few years of my Dad’s life, we tried to talk about a lot of his memories and get them written down, but with his history of strokes he had a difficult time recalling all the little details. We recorded them to the best of our ability, but wish we had made a bigger effort to record them when his memory was better. The stories we do have from my Dad have now become cherished memories.
My mom, on the other hand, has been in the process of writing her story over the past several years. It can be a daunting task when you look trying record your life history. Just recently, I learned about StoryWorth, a company that believes in the importance of recording and sharing your story with future generations. They have simplified the art of sharing family stories, and I am excited about the ease of their program.
When you sign up with StoryWorth, you can choose questions each week that will be sent to your loved ones to answer. Choose from hundreds of questions to prompt your family members to record their memories online in a private forum, which can only seen by those you want to see it. The stories and answers to each question are recorded and stored safely. After your year of service with StoryWorth, your stories are bundled together and bound in a beautiful, hard-bound book.

And at the end of the year, you have a beautifully bound book of family stories that can be enjoyed for generations to come! I just LOVE that…don’t you?
We are in the process of finishing up my Mom’s story with StoryWorth and I am so excited for the finished product. We are planning on having several copies of the book made so that she can share them with all of my siblings.
Give someone you love a beautiful gift this Christmas!
After you purchase a year’s worth of service with StoryWorth to give to a special someone in your life, you can print off this little gift card, which will let the recipient of your gift know exactly what they are getting. To print the card, simply click on the link below:
*The cards have a blank spot to add a personal photo to if you would like; but, you don’t have to. I cropped a photo that measured 1.5 by 3 inches to fit perfectly in the blank area on the card and glued it on with a glue stick.
You can place the card in an envelope OR you can wrap it with a simple Wood Photo to make the gift a little extra special. These Wood Photos are simple to make and are a fun gift idea in and of themselves.
To make this Wood Photo Frame you will need the following materials:
piece of wood
- Cut a piece of wood to measure 5.5 by 7.5 inches (or your own size).
- Paint your wood white (or color of your own choice) and let it dry.
- Crop a personal photo on your computer to 5 by 7 inches (or your own size).
- Print the photo on white paper.
- Cut out the photo.
- Mod Podge the photo onto the wood and be sure to press out any bubbles. Let it dry.
- Paint Mod Podge over the top of the photo and let it dry.
- Sand the edges of the wood.
So easy right? Wrap it up and attach the printable StoryWorth Gift Tag and you have a beautiful gift that will keep on giving to the recipient and their family members for years to come! It doesn’t get much better than that!
