Now that the cooler weather is just around the corner, cute hats will become a necessity. I found a cute crochet hat pattern last year and made this hat for my girls. They both liked it so much, they had to share it. I found the pattern here.
The hat was for an adult, so I changed the hook size and used a 3.75mm hook. I also added an extra fpdc so that there was an extra line in between the lines on the outside of the hat in the original pattern. I also added fewer stitches in the brim to adjust for the smaller size. I am planning on making one in a different color so they won’t have to share this year. Or maybe I will make one for myself. Now there is a good idea!

Oh, so many cute things… and so little time to learn a new craft. I wish I could crochet and sew and repurpose and… and… and…
I'm really good at collecting ideas though :)
Thanks! Maybe I can find a good friend willing to take pity on me and make one for my girls :)
cute idea,

!!! I never find nice crochet patterns…maybe I'm not looking in the right places! Thank you! These are so awesome!
This post makes me wish I know how to crochet or knit. These hats are adorable.
I am going to learn how to crochet for this reason only! I LOVE these hats!
OMG! Do you have the instructions somewhere posted on how to make this brown hat…I have searched the web for it and can’t find it anywhere! I love this hat….my great neice has the exact one and I want to make more for herin different colors!!
Yes. The link to where I found the pattern is in the top paragraph of this post. Hope that helps.
Thank you so much! I came across the one in the link you gave. I didn’t think that was the one in the above pic. It looks a bit different. I will crochet it thou and see how close it comes to the one my neice has (which looks like the one above with the pink button) :)
Did you have to flip the hat inside out? With fpdc my lines ended up on the inside. I you tubed to make sure I was doing the right stich and I am. Should it be bpdc? Regardless it’s really cute. This is a really hard style of pattern to find for free. Etsy seems to have the market cornered. Thanks!
Thank you for lovely pattern when in the first row you say chain three and this is a stitch then in next rows chain three is not mentioned do I assume to just go on and call it a stitch hope I’ve explained properly many thanks anne
How many stitches do I do to make smaller brim as you say you did thanks
