I finally got my little herb garden planted outside. I love cooking with fresh herbs and have enjoyed being able to actually manage to keep several of them alive. This has kind of been a big step for me as I haven’t had the greenest of thumbs in past years. I have managed to keep one indoors with a grow light for the last couple of years but it was very small with only a couple of our favorite herbs.
So I decided to add a couple more to our collection. Here is to hoping we can keep up or good luck! I have the perfect sunny little corner of our back deck that is close to my kitchen for easy access when we are cooking. I looked for a few different ways to grow them and finally decided to use this cute little bench I found on clearance at Home Goods! It was white but a couple coats of this happy yellow Valspar spray paint, gave the bench the perfect boost of color this corner needed!! Have I mentioned how much I adore the color yellow? :)
I built this wood box a couple of years ago and had been using it as a centerpiece on our back deck table. It was just what I was looking for to fit on this bench. But of course I wanted to prettify it up a bit. I added the word “herbs” to the box by cutting out some vinyl on my Cricut Explore and then using the vinyl to stencil the word onto the box.
Then I simply spray painted some wooden popsicle sticks (the Jumbo wooden craft sticks) white on the front and the back. Then added the names of each herb with some black vinyl also cut out on the Cricut Explore.
And I just realized when I was editing these photos that I accidentally put my thyme Garden Marker in the pot of basil! Oopsie! I am going to have to fix that!
Do you have an herb garden? They are so easy to create and can be created and displayed in so many fun ways! I love how fancy I feel when I cook with them…ha!
