Learn how to make ice cream in a bag with a few simple ingredients. Great activity for kids and families on a hot summer day.
Summer is here and the heat has us looking for different ways to cool down. One of my kids favorite activities when they were younger was to make ice cream. Today I am sharing with you this fun recipe so you can make ice cream in a bag…
It’s a pretty simple recipe that makes a tasty Vanilla Ice Cream. We like to throw in some sliced strawberries or whatever fruit we have on hand. But you can throw pretty much any add-ins you want based on your own personal preferences.
HOMEMADE ICE CREAM
This is a fun summer activity and a great way to cool off and enjoy a little treat on an especially hot summer day!
Ice Cream in a Bag
- 2 TBS sugar
- 1 cup half and half
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup salt kosher or rock salt works best
- Ice cubes enough to fill each gallon-size bag about half full
- 1 each pint-size ziplock bag
- 1 each gallon-size ziplock bag
Combine the sugar, half and half, and vanilla extract in the pint-size bag and seal it tightly.
Place the salt and ice in the gallon-size bag, then place the sealed smaller bag inside as well. Seal the larger bag. Now shake the bags until the mixture hardens (about 5 minutes). Feel the small bag to determine when it's done.
Take the smaller bag out of the larger one, add mix-ins, and eat the ice cream right out of the bag.
Easy cleanup too!
