This oven German Pancakes Recipe is our tried and true favorite breakfast recipe. Made in a skillet in the oven, they come out perfect every time!
GERMAN PANCAKES
One of our favorite breakfast recipes are these German Pancakes that are baked in the oven. They are so easy to make and are a huge hit with every one in the family. These German Pancakes Recipe are probably the most requested breakfast recipe in our home. When guests come over to stay, these always make an appearance!
This is a recipe I found from The Recipe Critic, and though we have tried other recipes, this is the one we always come back too. I don’t even bother trying other recipes anymore because we haven’t found one that is better in our opinion…and you might as well not re-invent the wheel…am I right?!
HOW TO MAKE GERMAN PANCAKES
Our favorite way to enjoy them is to cover them with some fresh fruit and sprinkle them with confectioner’s sugar. The kids sometimes add maple syrup. If I am ambitious enough, I will make our Homemade Buttermilk Syrup (yummy) to drizzle over the german pancakes!
INGREDIENTS:
- 3 eggs
- ½ cup milk
- 3 tablespoons melted butter, divided
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- ¼ teaspoon of salt

- Pour the batter into a skillet and bake for 12-18 minutes or just until the edges start to brown.

I inherited this exact recipe when I married my husband. We love it too!!! The only exception is we bake them in two round metal cake pans for one recipe. I can honestly say they are my favorite breakfast ever!
Mine too!
I just made German Pancakes for my son this morning at his request! We love them at our house. We make them with 6 eggs, 1 cup milk, 1 cup flour and 6 tbsps of butter melted in a 9×13 casserole glasswear and bake for 20 minutes at 400 degrees. So yummy!
They are yummy! Thanks for your recipe. I will have to try it out!
I have never heard of german oven pancakes, but I’m intrigued and have added them to our menu next weekend. Thanks for the recipe!!
Hope you enjoy them as much as we do!
So, 2 tablespoons butter in the batter, and one in the bottom of the skillet for 3 total?
How many pancakes does your recipe yield? Can I use any other kind of pan other than the cast iron ?
This recipe is just for one. You can use any pan that is able to go into an oven. Hope you enjoy the recipe.
