Make your own Homemade Pancake Mix. Perfect for a quick and easy breakfast when needed and without all the preservatives!
HOMEMADE PANCAKE MIX
Mornings can be busy at our house and I imagine your house may be the same way. I like to try and send my kids out the door with something warm and healthy in their belly’s. Sometimes we don’t get the chance because we hit snooze on the alarm one too many times. To help with the morning rush, I like to have a Homemade Pancake Mix on hand.
HOW TO MAKE HOMEMADE PANCAKE MIX
It’s so easy to make a large batch and store in a container. Start by gathering ingredients listed below:
- 5 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/4 cups powdered milk
- 1/4 cup white sugar
- 1/4 cup baking powder
- 1 tablespoon salt
Then, follow the instructions below:
- Combine flour, powdered milk, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl; stir to blend.
- Store mixture in an airtight container and use within 8 months.
When you are ready to make the pancakes, add some water to a cup or two of the Homemade Pancake Mix in a bowl, until the pancake mix reaches a good consistency (I like a little thinner pancake batter).
Then cook the pancakes on a heated griddle or on the stove top like you normally would. This way you have great homemade pancakes without having to go to the hassle of whipping them up every morning for breakfast…or dinner :).
That’s it! So simple right?!

HOMEMADE PANCAKE MIX RECIPE
I like not having to worry about a lot of preservatives that you can find in the store bought pancake mix and I can control what goes into the pancakes. You can also use this mix as a base to creating other flavors of pancakes.

I always buy pancake mix at the store and never realized it was this easy to make. I am definitely going to start making my own. Thanks for the recipe!
I used to do the same thing! I think it tastes better too!
This looks so easy to make! :) And a great way to save time! I love preparing foods ahead of time
It is a huge time saver. Hope you enjoy! Thanks!
For a healthier option add oatmeal and mix with (almond or other) milk instead of water. I always add an egg as well. You could also mix in flaxseed, whole or grounded or a grated apple.
Great suggestions. I will have to try that out!
Can this be used for waffles too?
Yes. It would work great for waffles as well!
Make the same way?
Yes, but I like to add an egg to my waffles. Enjoy!
I am very interested in your containers. However, the link seems to be broken. Can you fix it and post it again? They look to be a perfect solution to my food storage issues!
I will look into it and fix it. Thanks for letting me know!
Thanks for the great recipe. Please could you confirm quantity for baking powder is 1/4 cup? I am a pancake novice so not sure…Thanks
Yes, 1/4 cup. Hope you enjoy the recipe!
Thank you so much! Your recipe rocks!
Thank you!!!
Do you think it would work well with whole wheat flour?
Yes, you definitely can! They just seem a lot more dense. Sometimes I will do half wheat and half white.
Hi, what is the recipe for mixing the pancake batter? Water to mix ratio.
I just add some water to a cup or two of the Homemade Pancake Mix in a bowl, until the pancake mix reaches a good consistency (I like a little thinner pancake batter).
Interested in the containers but link is broken. Thanks!
Seriously loving those dishes! Anywho, love your site!
