Hello Idea Room readers! I’m Taylor, I write MaryJanes and Galoshes, a mainly craft blog where I share tutorials on simple projects usually having to do with re-purposing something. I’m always thinking of ten different ways to use a product and I think it shows in my tutorials.
Today I’m going to share a super simple fashion tutorial perfect for fall! I would call it a no-sew project, but technically you do use a needle and thread to attach the little embellishments, but you won’ actually need any sewing skills (or even a sewing machine, it’s all hand work!).
So here is what I’m going to share today (the scarf).
I recently saw a to die for scarf that had little fake coins adorning it, but the coins were SUPER expensive! So I decided to do a knock off version and this is what I came up with.
What you need-
2 yards Jersey Knit fabric, I found mine at Jo’Anns on clearance!
Silver circles chain from Jewelry Supply section, mine are from Micheal’s and were very affordable
Thread to match your fabric
Needle
Pliers to dis assemble your chin
So here is what my chain looked like when I got it.
Using a pliers, separate each circle so they each have their own jump ring.
Cut your fabric to your desired length and twice your desired width (if your fabric has no wrong side you do not need to double the width). I used one of my favorite scarves to get my measurements which were 6 foot by 36 inches.
My fabric had a right and wrong side, so I had to fold it in half wrong sides together. Knit doesn’t fray so you don’t need to hem it at all.
If your folding your fabric to hide the wrong side, you will sew your circles down the open side creating a tube. If you don’t have a wrong side and aren’t folding your fabric you can sew down which ever side you choose. Attach each circle by sewing several passes through the jump ring.
Sew a circle every inch along one long side.
That’s it! Simple right!
I hope you stop by MJ&G and see what other fun stuff I’m up to. Plus Amy is there today with her own project so stop over and check that out! Thanks for having me! ~Taylor
