This fudge recipe makes the best fudge. A delicious creamy chocolate with walnuts that is rich but not overly so. The perfect fudge recipe for your holiday.
FUDGE RECIPE
I love the holidays for many reasons. But I think the most compelling reason is the time we are able to spend with my family and friends making memories. On a typical holiday, my family tends to gather together in the kitchen sharing our favorite memories and enjoying our favorite family recipes.
One of our favorite holiday recipes to enjoy together is my Grandmother’s Fudge Recipe. This fudge recipe is so delicious. I might be a little bit biased, but I have made a valiant effort to try other fudge recipes to see if I could find fudge recipe that I like better. I haven’t been successful yet! My whole family loves this recipe and it doesn’t last very long when it finally gets set out on Christmas Eve!
EASY FUDGE RECIPE
Our Fudge Recipe is a pretty easy fudge to make. You don’t need a candy thermometer. If you pay close attention to the times then it should turn out. You do want to make this recipe on a dry day…especially if you live in an area with humidity as it will affect this fudge.
CHOCOLATE FUDGE RECIPE
Our Chocolate Fudge Recipe is pretty chocolate full. It is rich so you really only need a couple pieces…but that is just the way it should be. This Chocolate Fudge is creamy and rich in texture and has a great consistency to it. It isn’t crumbly or sugary tasting! We love to add walnuts to our fudge, but you can leave those out if you prefer…or add your favorite nuts instead!
Our fudge recipe does require a bit of stirring…so get your biceps ready for a little bit of a workout! It will be worth it though…I promise!
TIPS FOR MAKING FUDGE
Here are some tips and rules to follow when making fudge. This can ensure you get great results every time you make it.
- Use fresh ingredients.
- Prepare all the ingredients and get everything laid out ahead of time.
- Read through all the directions so you know what steps are coming up next.
- Use a heavy saucepan that is not too small…this fills a full size medium pan.
- Use a saucepan that is thick so that the heat is distributed evenly throughout the entire fudge while it is cooking.
- Spray or oil the sides of the pan before beginning.
- Follow the directions exactly.
- Use real butter…not a margarine or a substitute!
- Let cool completely before cutting into squares.
- Store in an air-tight container with layers separated by parchment or wax paper.
HOW TO STORE FUDGE
If you think you will eat the fudge within the next two weeks or so, the best way to store it is at room temperature in an air-tight container. You don’t have to wrap the fudge in foil or plastic wrap; instead, use a self-sealing bag or plastic container and put it in a cool, dark place.
DOES FUDGE NEED TO BE REFRIGERATED?
Fudge will keep at room temperature just fine. It does not need to be refrigerated unless it is a softer fudge that you want to keep a little firmer. You can also keep fudge in the refrigerator if like your fudge cold. In this case, just make sure it is air tight. The cold dry air will dry out your fudge faster than sitting at room temperature.
