Have you guys heard of the blog Somewhat Simple? If not you are seriously missing out. I was introduced to Steph from Somewhat Simple a while back and was really inspired. Well, today she graciously agreed to do a blog swap with me, after some begging on my end :)! Now you have another blog to add to your readers! I am blogging at Somewhat Simple today. Now for Steph…
Somewhat Simple Blog Swap
Happy Friday everyone!!! I am so excited to be here on Amy’s blog! I love so many of her ideas she features here, isn’t she fantastic?!
I am Stephanie and when I am not juggling 3 young kids with crazy schedules, I most-likely to be found creating for my website, Somewhat Simple.
In addition to being a full-time mom, I also have the awesome job of teaching preschool from my home 2 days a week. I love teaching and with such young kids, the preschool curriculum gives me yet another creative outlet. (Not to mention with it only being 2 days a week the stress level is non-existent, so I seriously just have so much fun with this “job.”)
Here is 1/2 of my fun class- aren’t they cute?!
The tutorial I have for you today is partly inspired by this little class of mine. Have a look at this:
Each student in class has their own little chair with their name in vinyl letters. So what do you do when one student has a little too much fun with scissors one day and turns a cute little chair into this:
(By the way, if Jenna’s mom is reading this, it wasn’t her that did this!)
Such a bummer! Luckily, they aren’t expensive to replace and on another “bright note” I now had a new canvas for a pretty sweet project! (This is me looking at the glass half-full, right?!)
So I took this poor little chair and instead of chucking it into the trash (as my husband told me to do!) I did the following:
First, I painted it yellow. I love yellow!
Then, I combined the following 2 tutorials; How to Recover a Chair and How to Use Wonder Under. And rather than bombard you with a zillion pictures of each of these tutorials, I made 1 image for each process, so you can just click on the image you would like to learn more about to enlarge it.
Here ya go!
After all is said and done, look what I now have sitting in the corner:
… and I plan to use it if any other child decides to take scissors to this one!!!
It will also come in handy for my 3 little rug-rats even when preschool is not in session!
So there you have it! Easy, cheap, cute AND useful! It doesn’t get much better than that!
I would like to personally invite all of you to come see what else I have up my creative sleeves at Somewhat Simple. Each day is something new and its always exciting! Recipes, crafts, tutorials and more! If you hurry over today, you can still add your link to our weekly Link Party and be entered into our giveaway!
Thanks again Amy for having me!
Have a great weekend!!!

I love it!! Where did you get the original chair, btw? I am planning to open a home daycare/preschool in the next year and was looking for something like that.
Steph, you are fabulous!! And two of my favorite blogs have come together? That sure is fabulous too! Both of you are amazing Women that is all I am going to say!
Great re-furbishing! So great being able to revamp the current ones rather than having to buy all new ones.
Great idea to reuse something broken. Glad you didn't listen to your husband. What a cute time out chair! Did Jenna get another chair?
Very cute chair and a fun story!
I love how you redid the chair and making it into a timeout chair was perfect! Great way to repurpose/recycle!
