INSTRUCTIONS FOR MAKING ORANGE ROLLS
-
Preheat oven to 170 degrees, and then turn it off. The warm oven will create a warm controlled environment for your rolls to raise.
-
In the large bowl of a stand mixer, combine the warm water and yeast. Allow the yeast mixture to sit for 5 minutes until the yeast begins to bubble.
-
Add the honey, melted butter, salt and eggs. Use a whisk to combine.
-
Using the dough hook on your stand mixer, slowly add 4 cups of flour and beat to combine. Mixture will be wet.
-
Add ½ cup at a time until dough pulls away from sides of bowl but is still slightly sticky. This will be a wet dough, so don’t add too much flour. Your finger should stick to the dough but shouldn’t pull any dough away with it.
-
Move dough to a well-oiled or buttered bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and place in warm oven that has been turned off.
-
Allow dough to double in size in a warm place, which will take about 45 minutes.
-
After dough has risen, punch it down and roll it into a large rectangle on a lightly floured surface, so it measures about 16×24 inches.
-
Spread and sprinkle the filling (see below) over the dough, then tightly roll into a cinnamon roll shape, starting at the long end of the dough.
-
Using string, unflavored dental floss or a sharp knife, cut into 1-inch pieces and place into a buttered 9×13 pan or baking dish.
-
Cover with a towel, and place back into warm oven. Allow to rise for a second time, about 20 minutes. Remove from oven.
-
Preheat oven to 375 degrees, and bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
-
Drizzle glaze (see above) over the top of the warm rolls, and enjoy!
-
Makes about 24 rolls.

HOW TO STORE ORANGE ROLLS OVERNIGHT
Refrigerate overnight: Place rolls in a buttered 9×13 dish. Cover pan tightly with plastic wrap and aluminum foil and place in refrigerator overnight. Second rise: In the morning, remove rolls from the fridge and allow to come to room temperature and rise for 1 ½ to 2 hours, or until doubled in size.
HOW TO STORE LEFTOVER ORANGE ROLLS
Cinnamon rolls have a great shelf life. Leftovers will stay fresh stored at room-temperature for up to 2 days, or in the fridge for up to a week, and in the freezer for up to 2 months if stored properly. Be sure to store them in an airtight storage container or wrap them tightly with plastic wrap.

Poptop Children Parties says
I am going to attempt your sweet rolls for my nephew birthday. I am curious enough, if I add a cinnamon will it spoilt the taste of orange or it’ll be just more flavored?
I think it would add more flavor. Sounds yummy!
Thanks, I did it as you recommend.
Now, my kids always asks to make these rolls.
So happy to hear that!
Orange recipes always my favorite. I will try this sweet rolls recipe before or near Christmas.
You will have to let me know if you like it!
On your orange sweet roll recipe. It calls for 2 and a 1/4
Tablespoons of yeast. Is that right or did you mean 2 and a 1/4 teaspoons please clarify.
Yes. Tablespoons is the correct measurement.
I made these over the weekend and I, like you, have always had problems with bread. They actually turned out good, with the exception of one user error. It actually made 2 pans, a 9×13 and a 9″ square. For the 9″ square I used a glass pan and it cooked perfectly, the 9×13 I used an alumninum airbake pan and although it tested done and was brown on the top, the bottom wasn’t done and sunk in the middle, bummer :(. But I was so excited that the glass pan rolls actually turned out very moist and fluffy! The only thing I’d change would be to make more orangey, even after adding the orange extract. Great recipe!
So happy that you enjoyed the recipe. Thanks for your comment.
could i possibly use agave if i don’t have honey?
Cami- Yes, that should work just fine. Hope you enjoy the recipe!
I am very excited to try this recipe, as my mother made theBest cinnamon rolls ever and since he’s been gone I haven’t made any. So, I will give it a try!!!!
Lynette- Hope you like the recipe!
I would need lots of zest added to the filling and icing. Also, I would rather have orange cream cheese icing. A little grand marnier might be nice somewhere in this recipe too. Thanks for sharing!
Tara- I will have to try that. Thanks for sharing and your comments!
