HOW TO MAKE A PUFF PASTRY BUNNY
These are so fun and simple to make. You can change it up to fit what you want to create. Here is how I created my puff pastry bunny treats!
- Pre-heat your oven to the directions on your package puff pastry (or what you puff pastry dough recipe) call for. In my case it was 425 degrees F. When I make them again, I will turn the heat down to 400 degrees since my oven cooked the pastries pretty dark!
- Prepare your pastry dough by making sure to thaw pastry dough completely before use if needed.
- Take a lined baking tray and set it aside until you are ready to use it.
CUT THE PASTRY DOUGH
- When your pastry is room temperature and rolls out easily, roll it out.
- Take a pizza cutter, knife or your cookie cutter and cut out the desired shape for your puff pastry.
- Place them onto the jelly roll pan and place them into the heated oven to bake for 15-18 minutes (or the time suggested on the puff pastry packaging. (I cooked mine less than the suggested time).
- After they have baked, let them cool on a cooling rack.
PUTTING TOGETHER PASTRY
- While the pastries are cooling you can cut and slice your strawberries on a cutting board into thin slices and set aside.
- When cool, you can slice the puff pastry in half lengthwise with a serrated knife.
- Take one half of the bunny pastry and fill it with whipped cream.
- Top the cream with your sliced strawberries.
- Place the top pastry sheet onto the strawberries and set onto your plate.
- Sprinkle powdered sugar over the tops of your puff pastry bunny!
- Add a little dollop on the backside of one bunny bottom and add a mini marshmallow to it.
- I also added a little dollop of whipping cream to the hand area of the bunny body and stuck a icing carrot it the bunny’s hands.
- Then I took two black round sprinkles and placed them onto the bunny heads to make the bunny’s eyes.
HOW TO GET EDGES TO STICK TOGETHER
If you want to do a sealed puff pastry with ingredients inside you can easily seal the edges together by using a fork to crimp the two edges together after filling the bottom with your filling and adding the top layer or second pastry sheet to the top. Simply hold the fork and press the tines of the fork all around the edges to form a tight seal around the pastry edges.
HOW TO GET YOUR PASTRY GOLDEN BROWN
You can get a nice golden brown coloring on the top of your pastry by rubbing a little melted butter or milk on the top with a pastry brush.

PUFF PASTRY BUNNY FILLING IDEAS
If you want to fill your pastries with something other than fresh strawberries and cream, you can substitute the filling with several other ideas. Here are some fun ways to switch up the filling that I think would taste amazing!
- brush with butter and dip in cinnamon-sugar mixture
- add a little whipped cream cheese and strawberries
- fresh fruit like raspberries or blueberries
- jam or jelly
- nutella and sliced bananas
- cover and fill with white frosting and sprinkles
HOW TO STORE
These puff pastry bunnies are best served immediately. If you are making them for a party, I would have the pastries all ready with everything sliced but not assemble them until right before serving. If you plan to store any for later, store in an air-tight container in the fridge for up to two days for best freshness.
Go ahead and make some! I think you will love them as much as we do!
